Is this game worth anything? I saw it at a Gamestop for $14 in box. It's a SNES game.

I was wondering as I'm looking to get some more SNES carts but can't find anything cheap enough and worth buying.

Me and my friend use to play that game all day. I always thought it was a good game for 2 people. 1 person play is quite a challenge.

It's decent, not outstanding. Really, REALLY hard in 1 player mode, and it doesn't play very much like the original Double Dragon. Still, a pretty good side scrolling beat-'em-up. Not sure it's $14 good, though.

Probably about $10 good. I think that's what I spent on mine.

Personally, I much preferred Super Battletoads / Double Dragon. It strays closer to the Battletoads realm, but is an awesome combo of the two styles.

Other excellent games for the SNES that are often overlooked...

Earthbound -- Best. RPG. Ever. I own the system for this game. I rented it once when I was really sick, and ended up not getting any sleep for three days because of it (needless to say, I didn't get better.)

TMNT IV -- It isn't as good as Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis, but it's storyline makes sense and is probably my second favorite beat-em-up, and favorite SNES one.

Super Tennis -- Not as good as the Virtua Tennis games, but before those games came along this was the best Tennis game ever.

Arkanoid -- Been playing this game like crazy lately. Excellent port of an excellent game.

Sunset Riders -- not the best SNES beat-em-up, (the two afforementioned ones get that designation), but a good one none the less.

its not a very good game, final fight is much better, and neither of them can hold a candle to streets of rage 2 on the genesis

Why do you think the Genesis version is better? I loved the Turtles in Time cartridge but if there's a reason the Hyperstone Heist stands out I might get that one instead for The Collection. :)

i havent played turtles in time in awhile, but i thought that it had some slowdown issues like a lot of other SNES games. That Konami engine was incredible, and was home to the only outstanding Simpson's game, the Simpson arcade game.

Are you sure, because I never noticed any slowdown on turtles in time...

TMNT IV does not have any slowdown. I still like gettin' a game of it going :D .

Super Double Dragon is okay, but very linear, there aren't any obstacles like the NES DD's. You do get some cool moves, 1 player is quite a challenge. I'd say get it, especially if it's in the box. It's on the rare side.

Hear, here. I remember wishing for years that they'd port over the 6-player X-Men beat 'em up.

I don't *exactly* know why, but I'm positive the Geni version is way more fun. The characters are slightly smaller and the game makes NOOOOO sense, but the overall feel is more like the arcade games.

I think it has to do with the fact that you really have to learn the patterns of the baddies to get past them in the same way as the arcade game. There isn't as much left up to luck as there is with the other games. If you die, _you_ died. It isn't, "Oh, Bebop hit me randomly again." It is, "Oh, I did something really dumb."

Good luck finding the game though. It's very rare. So rare that now that the GOAT Store has one, I don't know if I'll ever list it -- I'm playing it too often

P.S. I still love playin the simpsons Arcade game, know a place that still has the cabinet and I'm always good for at least a buck everytime I see it. Miss the X-men one, haven't seen that around in quite a while

I don't know if its really overlooked since it goes for quite a bit on ebay but my wife and I loved playing Tetris Attack. Our absolute favorite SNES game.

Hyperstone Heist isn't rare, I've seen it plenty of times.

I don't know. I've yet to see Hyperstone Heist in a store, and I visit about eight different stores once or twice a week. The copies that sell on eBay sell for over $20.00 regularly.

I'd say that Hyperstone Heist is rare. Your milage may vary.

Maybe it's scarce because of popularity. After all, Nintendo did have the majority of TMNT games, and for Sega to have a pretty good one, maybe a bit of a novelty? I don't know, Funco used to have it.

I don't know. Super NES only had one beat-em-up TMNT game with TMNT IV (the fighting game just sucked.) TMNT IV is a very common, but very sought after SNES game. I don't know if you can blame it's rarity on that...

On another note, I decided to try out Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the SNES for the first time the other night. Amazingly to me, it plays just like the original Double Dragons, and is really a fun game. I stayed up until 4:00 am last night playing it, when I had to get up today at 7:45 (must... go... back... to... bed  )

I agree!!!(as you can see by my avatar, I really like Earthbound, it's my favorite game EVER).

BTW - is TMNT: the Hyperstone Heist really worth that much? I have it with instructions too, got it in a trade. it's a very fun game, and apparently I got a good deal on it.

Yeah! I noticed that you had Dan as your avatar right away! What a brave journey-er he is :P

Of course, you probably named him something different :|

In this neck of the woods at least, it sells for eBay-like prices.

I mean Nintendo in general. The NES alone had four TMNT games, not to mention the GB had a few as well.

I used to have that Power Rangers game, it was okay, though really not believeable (not that side-scrollers are intended to be that believable in the first place :D ).

Oh man, my cousin rented this when it was just released and I thought it would be so lame on account of the show. That game is fun! The 1 on 1 fighting segments as the oversized zords was the best part, I liked how the nerd Billy punches too. Then when he morphs he has the best weapon with the longest distance. :D

Yeah, I had been avoiding ever trying it because it was from that show, but I figured that the game was still worth $10.00, there must be something to it...

I keep playing as Kimberly. Her graphic has the smallest arms and legs, and I think it's funny to see the hulking guys fly back after she "hits" them.

I have to add, another great beat-em-up is Maximum Carnage. It rocks!

I got Donkey Kong Country 3 today, which I've been looking to get literally since it was released. I'll probably stay up all night playing it now... Yippie! :D

I was neither a murder suspect, nor a target for an international spy organization. But I drove a car down the Jersey Turnpike at 80mph... A police officer pulled me over and asked my driver's license. He said I was going 20 mph over the speed limit. I instantly pointed to my wife and said, "I'm in a hurry, my wife is in labor." Fortunately my wife actually had a big stomach. I hoped he'd let me go with this excuse. "Oh, since it's an emergency, I'll lead you to the hospital with my police car," he said.
"No, it's not necessary."
"Why not?" asked the officer.
"Uh... well..." "Let's get going," said the officer.
"No, no! We can't! This baby is a demon child!"
