I'm having a problem with my 7800 and I was wondering if anyone could help. See the system will play 2600 games no problem, but I can't seem to get any 7800 games to play on it at all. I think this is just wierd, but I was wondering if anyone had a solution.

What happens when you put in a 7800 cartridge? This problem really isn't to strange considering that when running in 2600 mode there are a lot of chips that don't get used. For example the Maria graphics chip, and all the RAM.

Well every time I try to play a 7800 game the screen is just different colored, like black or green mostly.

Atari 7800 carts seem to be way more sensitive to dust than the 2600 carts were. It may just need a good cleaning. That would be a cheap fix if so.

It is however possible that some needed chip in the 7800 system is dead, a resistor burned out, or a contact in the card slot bent/broken.

These old systems are though though, so if it ever did work, it likely will after being cleaned again.
