I live in the UK and have recently purchased BATTLEZONE 2000 (cool game) from the US via ebay, but thought you guys might want to know about extra charges.

I had to pay £7.25 (approx $12) customs charge for inspecting my package. Apparently security is increased due to the Iraq war.

So I paid
$31 for game
$6.40 for postage
$12 for the privillage of someone searching my parcel

that's about $50 for 1 game....... that's expensive.

May I suggest that you may want to stop getting games from other countries for a little while until things settle down.

Well Battlezone 2000 is not only a cool game it is also a very good war training simulator. You know if this game would fall into the wrong hands. It would be extremly dangerous if Saddam Hussein got his hands on a copy of Battlezone 2000 ;) But I guess Desert Strike never was to popular in Irak.

Telegames, ooooh interesting, but actually I didn't tell you the whole storey. I also ordered other games off this guy at the same time to reduce postage and it worked out at a good deal overall, except he never charged me or sent me the other titles so it turned out to be a really bad deal. The other games were all fairly common so no great loss, it just makes Battlezone 2000 an expensive buy. At least he sent Battlezone and not a common like SuperSkweek. I could have got a decent XBOX game for that money and play XBOX live. I'll probably buy CLONE WARS on XBOX next week when it comes out.

Did he declare it as a 'gift' or mechandise? also did he put the value on the customs form...i know if it goes over £50 odd then you get charged a % but as you say they may have stepped things up a bit now...always make sure before you buy they put it as a gift and a low value for customs..carl and a few others do this but ask before hand saves on added expenses.

You should try buying from
http://www.konsolen.de/

I haven't bought anything from them yet, but I was quoted 10 euros for the postage on 5 lynx games.

Very valid point Jay, and a good tip for everyone who buys from overseas. I did not know that so I never asked the seller, but as it had a receipt in the package they charged me. I think the label said anything over £15 was chargeable, which seemed very low to me.

So remember kids, always a gift and never a purchace.
