Since there's nearly 90 released Lynx games, and some can only be found for a hefty price, it's unlikely I'll ever have a "complete" Lynx collection. I'm not a completist, anyway - I buy what I like.

Here's what I have to date. Got 'em all new and complete:

1. Chip’s Challenge
2. Crystal Mines II
3. Dirty Larry Renegade Cop
4. Gates of Zendocon
5. Hydra
6. Kung Food
7. Ms. Pac-Man
8. Paperboy
9. Pinball Jam
10. Qix
11. Rampart
12. Road Blasters
13. Shanghai
14. Steel Talons
15. S.T.U.N. Runner
16. Toki
17. Xenophobe
18. Xybots

If that's what you had, what games do you think are still needed to round out the collection with the best games the Lynx has to offer?

Nice collection!

I would say that the following titles would "round out" your Lynx library:

1. Cybervirus (but pricey)
2. Lemmings (ditto)
3. Blue Lightning
4. Electrocop
5. Dracula (the Lynx's only true graphic adventure)
6. Pit Fighter (the worst game for the Lynx)
7. Scrapyard Dog
8. Shadow of the Beast
9. Warbirds
10. Joust

Why would I want the worst game?

And you didn't list Klax. I've read good things about that game. Although I'm not sure how I'd like having to hold the Lynx vertically to play it.

"Klax" was a very grave omission; I blame that on my cold medication.

I think that every "well-rounded" collection should have both the best and worst games available for the system...if only to give you some gauge for comparative quality. This is why I also believe every Jag owner should own "Club Drive", as it will make them appreciate "T2K" and "Battlesphere Gold" even more. ;)

Well with 29 games already listed, I'll go with one of my favorites: Awesome Golf.

I agree w/ all of the responses so far (except pit fighter :D ) and have to double up the recomendations of Awesome Golf, Lemmings, & Warbirds. There are few better titles than those.

I'd have to add the following to the must have list

Battlewheels
Battlezone
Robotron 2084
Rygar
Todd's Adventures in Slime World

And these to the honorable mention list:

Zarlar Mercenary
Sokomania (pricey)
Rampage
Raiden
Ishido: The way of the stones
Fidelity Ultimate Chess Challenge (simply because I like chess)
Euro Soccer Challenge (stay away from World Class Soccer though)
Desert Strike

Games to avoid unless you consider "rounding out" having the best & the worst:

Basketbrawl
Hard Drivin' (interesting but way to slow & difficult to control)
Krazy Ace Miniture Golf (I have yet to figure out what universe these physics work in)
NFL Football
Pit Fighter 2
Super Off Road
Tournament Cyberball 2072
World Class Fussball/Soccer

Everything else is IMO worth getting but start w/ the top list & what the others mentioned.

I also agree on most recommendations. Rygar, Dracula, Awesome Golf etc. I just like to add one more game: Viking Child. This game is underrated!

With all these recommendations, about 35 so far, I hope you have a fat wallet Brian ;)

And about Klax: I know most Lynxers love this game. But I think it is indeed very annoying that you have to hold your Lynx vertical :( Same thing with Gauntlet and Lexis.

I agree with "glitch" above on Slimeworld - its excellent to play, and when you've completed the levels, the multiplayer option is brilliant.

Have you though of getting a second Lynx, a comlynx, and having two copies of:

i) Warbirds
ii) Slimeworld
iii) Checkered Flag (its a good race game, but really shines multiplayer)

Also Rygar can be surprisingly satisfying. And APB is great when you're in a quirky-but-serious mood.

Klax - vertical Lynx!, I love this game, but I play it with the Lynx in the normal (horizontal) position, as I just can't play it vertically.

The only game that should be vertical is Pinball Jam, and it isn't!

The 3 best games I've got are

Battlezone 2000 (very similar to arcade original in many ways)
Klax (truely great)
Chip's Challenge (but you already got that one)

All of the above I can recommend.

You can play Klax in the normal horizontal position? Cool! That moves it up on my list of wanted games. It's nice to know there's an option.

Two games I enjoy and recomend are Qix and Shanghi.. yeah, two different style games but if I just want to relax its Shanghi, if I feel like trying to kick booty, then its Qix.

Sure, you can play Klax in the normal horizontal position, as long as you don't mind looking at a sideways screen.

Actually, that doesn't sound like a terrible idea, but I've never tried it since I don't mind it being vertical.

Shanghai is one of the games I play most often. But I can usually only stand going once or twice. Takes so much thought!

Rampart is another game I often play. I like the variety in the game - the battle aspect and then the tactics of rebuilding your castle/s. But it's also a game I can get pretty pissed off at if I feel I'm being cheated.

I would add Missle Command/Asteroids to this list as well...although it's very pricey. It's probably my favorite Lynx game, I don't understand why other people don't like this more.

Also, I would second Dracula and Warbirds. And while I really like Lemmings, for the price I wouldn't consider it a must-have.

I also tend to agree with most people's avoid list. And as per a recent topic, Kung Food isn't horrible and worth it if you can pick it up cheap. Hell, I'd buy almost any Lynx game for a few dollars.

Warbirds and Battlewheels are absolute must-haves that you MUST add to your collection yesterday! :D And don't believe all the cynicism regarding Pit-Fighter...it's a ton of fun as a two-player game and is actually pretty impressive graphically. Keep in mind that the Genesis port of Pit-Fighter didn't utilize any scaling effects like the Lynx (and arcade) versions did.
