Hi, folks.

I'm a newcomer to this board but a long-time Atari fan starting with the 5200 way back in the early 80's. I've been reading through some of your posts and I think that this is where I belong.

I have a good number of games for the Lynx and for the Jaguar, as well as the 5200. I have great childhood memories of me and my best buddy comlinked and playing Slime World and Xenophobe together.

I would love to get together with some gamers for a little comlink play. Anyone living around the Chicago area?

I would have to list Awesome Golf, Rampart, APB, and Ms. Pac Man as the four titles that I will always bring along on a long flight or trip.

Xenophobe and Slime World are fun by yourself, but about 20 times funner if you are playing Multiplayer.

I'm surprised that so many people list Zarlor Mercenary as one of the hardest lynx games. That one didn't give me much trouble at all (I would recommend choosing the robot).

Electrocop, however, that game took me forever to beat! And Rampart is a tough one, too. I've managed to beat it once, and the cool thing about it is that that particular game never loses its replay value. I still play it over and over again, but have never been able to win it a second time, and I have tried!

Out of curiosity - what do you guys think of the games that Telegames has developed? I can only speak to Desert Strike for the Lynx, but have often wanted to get Double Dragon, if it is true to the arcade. I think the arcade version is one of the best fighting games ever made.

I hesitate to get it though, because I've bought several of Telegames Jaguar developments that were terrible. Iron Soldier 2 was pretty good, but I was dissapointed with Towers II and World Tour Racing is awful.

How true is Lynx Double Dragon to the original coin-op?

Talk to you soon.

I agree, you never get tired of this game. I have never managed to beat it myself but have survived 6 rounds on the island. Does the play continue after the island? And is the ending as nice as the intro?

I think most of the games they have developed (released) for the Jaguar is good. Brutal Sports Football, Breakout 2000 etc. Iron Soldier 2 is awesome. I just sold my copy of this game to JagHammer  ;)
Among their Lynx games I recommend: European Soccer, Desert Strike and Double Dragon and I advise you to avoid: Krazy Golf and Super off Road.

It has been many years since I played the arcade version. I remember playing this game a lot on Sega Master System also. The Lynx version is a good game but it is hard to compare it to the original of course. I like it more than both Kung Food and Batman Returns.

Sound: Intro music is the classic Double Dragon tune and background music during play is also the same as the arcade. But the sound effects are few, very weak and almost impossible to hear.

Graphics: I think the graphics are great! The game starts with a short intro when your girlfriend is being kidnapped by the bad guys. Billy, Jimmy and all the enemys (even if some of them is missing) looks and moves very good on the Lynx screen. BIG sprites and clear graphics. All the characters move a little faster in the Lynx version and they are maybe not as fat ;)

Gameplay: The contols is ok. I think you can use all the kicks and punches from the coin-op. You have whips, knives and things to throw on your enemy. It is a 2 player game. It has 4 skill levels. There is also a "practice mode" I belive the game is much shorter, 4 stadges, and not has as many enemys. I do not think it take more than 20-30 min to play throw the game but it is fun to play

I don't know why some many people list Zendocon as hard either, it's one of the few games I've finished. I also got to the point in Rampage where all the headlines repeat (or something like that, if I remember correctly). I managed to finish Chips Challenge as well, years ago. I think those are the only games I've finished.

Most frustrating Lynx game for me? I dunno, probably APB.

Sorry, I don't live near Chicago but I'm sure you'll find some people who do around here.

The ending in Lynx Rampart isn't as good as the opening, I'm afraid. If I remember correctly, it's just a single screen shot similar to the ones you see between the different stages of the levels. I can't imagine that the island level goes past 6 rounds, and it is the last level of the game.

Don't ask me how I managed to beat it, I think I just got lucky once. Thanks for the input on Lynx Double Dragon.

I had forgotten about Breakout 2000 for the Jaguar by Telegames - that game is pretty good, and so is Brutal Sports Football, but Towers II and World Tour Racing were really bad and soured me on Telegames.

Welcome to the Forum, Brian!

I'm rather new to the Lynx myself; I've had the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 800XL, XEGS, ST, and Falcon for quite a few years and enjoyed them alot. After not doing a lot of classic gaming for quite some time except for current systems (PS2, Xbox, GC, Dreamcast), I've gotten back into by buying a Jaguar and Lynx. Wife threatens to throw me out of the house if I don't quit buying so much Jag stuff but right now I'm addicted as hell and enjoying it.

I have a Lynx II with Rampart, Crystal Mines II, Ms. Pac-Man, Chip's Challenge, Blockout, Kung Food, Klax, Shanghi, and Qix. I enjoy and recomend all of them, though KF and CM2 are no where near as good as the others.

I'd like to add Battlezone, Asteroids/Missile Command, Scrapyard Dog, and Gauntlet to my small collection in the near future.

Again, Welcome to the Forum!

welcome to the lynx world, brian.it is a great system.
double dragon is rather faithful to the arcade version-except for some of
the graphic deletions i remember that the arcade version had.
1.comlynx and single play are as fun and frustrating as the arcade
2.character graphics are very good
3.you can choose from easy(very easy?) to nightmare for skill level
4.all the weapons are there,i believe.
5.all the challenge is there
6.its fun to play!!
too bad that telegames did not release my other favorite as a companion
game to this and that is "renegade".that would've been a real hoot for me
to have that.also i rather loved the game "vigilante" that i love to play on
my turbo express.this would have been nice to see on the lynx as well.
comlynx play is just like being together on the arcade version.
watch out for the "nightmare" level! the baddies never seem to end and it
can be very hard to survive long.
i would recommend you get at least one copy of this,brian-possibly two to
have for comlynx play.i've played it comlynxed a couple of times in the
past and it is fun.lynx up!-chris
