My Lynx controls are now starting to always veer to the right, making every game impossible to enjoy. Even in a neutral position, the guy/ car/ bike/ thing moves to the right. I tried to crack the case to see if I could clean the contact points on the joypad, but I only got so far before fear engulfed me. Also, it seems like this condition makes the title screen disappear quickly and it gets progressively worse as the game continues.

Is there any way to fix the controls, or am I destined to buy another Lynx off ebay?

Help me somebody!

I have a problem with my lynx also. I think one of the buttons is jammed. When I turn on the system, it immidiately starts a game, and shoots uncontrollably (difference varies depending on the game I put in) It acts just like I'm holding the button down. Can it be fixed?

I've been keeping my lynx in a toolbox for storage, but it had another system sitting on top of it, so it may have damaged it. :

When this happens to me, I take the Lynx apart and use one of those white "Mars" brand erasers to clean off the PC board beneath the joypad and buttons.

How do you get it apart without snapping it?

Vinnie...the screws are hiding under the rubber hand grips. I assume you have Lynx 2 model?

Pull the rubber hand grips off the back..and you will see like 2 or 3 screws each..I think 2 though. There is one more in the Battery Compartment...and that one is a bit tricky to remove...due to the angle I believe...

Hope that helps..

this happens much more on the twos than the ones.the joypad or a/b do
this rather frequently on some lynxes-especially the a/b bottons.you have
to take the lynx apart apart and get to the "backbone" that the mylar
layer with the control traces is attached to.i use isopropyl alcohol to clean
mine up.you have the button rubber that is also attached to the backbone.
this is what always seems to stick on me.sometimes the joypad does too.
the lynx twos use a modular construction so you'll have to take it apart in layers after you get the 4 case screws and battery box screw out.this can
be touchy.you have the ribbon connectors and the lcd screen to contend
with before you can get the four screws out that hold the control backbone
in.you have some 4 layers of stuff to revove and some 12-16 screws to be
laying on your workbend when you get it apart.it can take an hour of being
careful and successful or a few minutes of carelessness to totally "piss up"
your lynx.i suggest some patience and careful, steady hands while doing it!
it is not hard to do this to fix your lynx!this is a rather simple lynx fix.be
patient and careful and your lynx will be just fine again.watching where the
screws go is a plus!i lay mine out the way they came out-in stages. otherwise you'll have 12-16 screws laying around and/or getting lost and not really knowing where they go.be conscious of your lynx workbench area.it may take you an hour and a half to do this tops. first go at it it might be a bit longer.be careful and you'll do fine.i've done this procedure
to my lynxes many, many times.it just takes time and patience.-chris

Thanks guys, I really Appreciate the help.

Come to find out that my joypad has a tear in one of the contacts. Any idea where I could get a spare Lynx?

if you need a joypad rubber try video 61 at 651-462-2500 or also try
the email at video61@tcq.net. these are rather inexpensive little silico-
ne-type lynx parts.i think the joypad rubbers are some $4.00 each.also
best electronics has these(www.best.com).brad's email there is:
best@concentric.net

try ebay for cheap lynx stuff! i've bought some stuff a few times at a real
reasonable price for lynx items.you should be able to find a nice second
lynx unit there as a spare.there are ones and twos there all the time.-chris
