As if this game wasn't already cool enough, and if I wasn't stoked to find it at a Hastings for $39.99 this weekend, the real kick in the pants is that it has an Atari logo on the side. Could anything be cooler? :D

An Xbox version with the Atari logo on it. :D At least for me, since I don't own a GC. Oh ya, since I'm dreaming here, Xbox Live support for the Ikaruga world ranking system and two player co-op.

There is an Ikaruga world ranking system, due to a built in mode in the game for the cube ;p

It's an awesome title. Hard as hell too, I can't make it past level 3 without using all the default continues. That boss there got a lucky shot off right when I was about to kill him >O

I have it for my DC. Awesome game. The graphics really show just how powerful the system really was. I think releasing it on th GC was a really good idea. A game that good deserves some press and it's getting it. Hopefully it gets enough good press we'll see it on the other consoles too.

I agree about the double-joy of (1) playing the game and (2) seeing "Atari" on the box/upon boot-up!!!!!!! !!!! !!!!

*sings the A-Ta-REEE commercial ditty everytime it boots up*

My shooter skills have never been astounding, and Ikaruga is kicking my butt. I just got to stage 4 but got killed rather quickly & it was game over. Still trying to get better chain combo's -- I keep getting "C+" ratings and that won't improve until I can chain more.

Great game -- very cinematic at times, and I love the music. Treasure!

I have the game on DC, but where did it originate from?
Was it an arcade game at some point??

It is from what I understand, you can even have the screen flipped on the side for true arcade resolution....great shooter! I'll pick it up for GC too....

you can get Radient Silvergun for the Saturn if you have 200 dollars to blow on ebay. It was only released in Japan and in limited numbers. It is also a hard-as-hell game with all the qualities you would expect from tresaure, it showed off the saturn for what it could have been, and it wouldve never worked correctly on a PSX.

You could get a burned copy and do the swap trick to play it ;)

Ikaruga is sweet as hell. I have it for the DC. It's kinda short - I think only 5 levels. But it is nice having a kick ass 2d shooter again. Hope more come out from now on.

I've seen where many original homebrew games are made for the DC,
I don't have much info, but I wonder if there are any 2-D shooters out there that can be downloaded and burned. Anyone have any info on this??

Another one on DC thats good, but just not as pretty is Mars Matrix, and you have a good chance of finding one used at EB and places like that

I've actually been playing this for the first time on the Saturn emulator that surfaced awhile ago. I'm not too impressed by it compared to other schumps, but I think I'm a little tired of the genre and the 20fps emulation isn't very close to the real thing. I wouldn't pass up a good deal for it to play on my Saturn but it's not a must have in my book. I am enjoying Panzer Dragoon Saga though :)

Some links to pages I made about some of the shooters getting mentioned. Personally, I like them all -- Mars Matrix, GigaWing, Gigawing2 (in that order), and I love Radiant Silvergun on my Saturn. Ikaruga is very reminsicent of Radiant Silvergun in theme.

Ikaruga is a psuedo sequel, if you notice, in the opening, its mentions "project R.S. 2"

Plus the final boss in Ikaruga is the exact same one as the final boss in Radiant Silvergun, from my understanding.
