I was just at JI2 and saw this. Infogrames has been officially renamed Atari.... :music: to my ears :D Anyway, I think that's definately a step in the right direction because Infogrames..er..Atari :P ...is definately a big dog in the gaming world right now. So what do think this will mean in the future? Anyways, nice to see the Atari name not being forgotten at least...

I hope that's not their logo I've been seeing with the fat line in the center of the Fuji symbol. That looks wretched.

You mean the one on www.atari.com? 'Fraid so. :|

And according to that site, Infogrames' North American operations division is indeed called Atari, Inc. Rock on! :D

You mean this one? (attached)

I rather like it...it seems kinda funkier than the 'retro' one...like flares ;)

Go figure :)

I would say that this has a "3D-ish" look:
A look at a rollercoaster-track (normal railways don't have such extreme slopes) through a small window.

Problaby the designer didn't knew what the old logo stands for
(That it's not just "three white bars)".

Very true, it seems to have perspective. Whatever it is about it, I like it :D

Why is this topic on almost every board? Albert has the news right on AA's main page.

:D

About the topic, I don't know what to think... Ok, from today Infogrames will be known as Atari, but... nothing to do with 'real' Atari Corp. :)

maybe infogrames did this to slowly ease into the console department, being that "infogrames jaguar 2" sound a lot worse that "atari jaguar 2!"

The logo is still ugly and the middle bar looks nothing like the item it represents.

I agree with Thunderbird. The new logo sucks! :x

I admit it's better than the Hasbro version though. That one just plain destroyed the original concept.

The only "updated" Atari logo that looked good was the 3D rainbow colored one that Atari Games used. That's the only one that has done justice to the original. :) But of course, the original is still the best.

Yeah, and probably it's better that new logo is so different from the original, so it will be clear that "this" atari have very few, if nothing, to do with "our" Atari ;)

The way I look at it is that Atari is now a COMPANY again and not just a software "division" (if it could have been called that even) or just a name and logo slapped onto some games anymore. This HAS to be a better thing in my book. I don't think the new logo looks bad either, not as good as the original, but better than Hasbro's is my opinion. At least there is hope once again. At least the 'Blade Runner' future doesn't look as bad again with the Atari name all over the place when the company didn't really exist! I can now watch one of my favorite movies again and not cringe at a future that can't possibly ever be true, because of "mistakes" like Atari logos all over the place! :D 8) I can't say I'm "loyal" to the new "Atari" yet, and appreciate them out of the blue, it's not the Atari I grew up with after all, but they do have a lot of good games with the Atari name now, unlike Hasbro, and I have hope again for Atari's future and may have reason to become a fan of the new Atari in the future, I have been a fan of Infogrames games in the past, so that's a start. But it all really depends on if they get into the hardware business again. I fell in love with Atari for their hardware, good software from them was just a bonus. The same is true for me as far as Sega is concerned...I always liked them for their hardware, not software, and I could care less about them on a whole as a "software" company. I like some of their games still, but I don't like them any more or less than other good software companies. It's just not the same. I can't be "loyal" and "love" a software company like I can with a hardware company. Software is software, Hardware is tangable, you can HUG it! :)

Is that the one where the fuji was the same, but the font was more futuristic? I'd go for that one.

Hi,

In fact, Infogrames tried to launch a new console under the Atari name, a few months ago... but they changed their mind at the end. Sad...
