Microsoft, which is expected to roll out a number of new audio and video services related to Xbox Live at next week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, said subscribers will have the option of a $5.99 monthly fee in North America as of this fall.

A one-year renewal or new subscription will be $49.99, while the Starter Kit, which includes a headset for voice communications and some bundled game products, will sell for $69.99, a hike from the current $49.99 price.

Microsoft also said a two-month free trial for the service will be "widely available" this fall.

Yeah that is good news, I thought they may hike up the price for the next 12 months.

My tag is Clock (obvious I guess) and I love Mech Assault 'Not It' games - was a top 10 player once.

Can't justify paying to play Wolfenstein online via X-Box when it's free via the PC. There are other games, like Halo 2 and Phantasy Star, but from what I understand there's an extra fee on top of the Live fee for PSO.

For someone like me who's computer is not all that fast and is stuck in the basement paying 50 bucks a year to play Wolfenstien on line is a good deal. Especially because playing it on a 65 inch TV blows away my 19 inch monitor. Also Counterstrike will be out in a couple of months and I know it's free on your computer but with all the hassles it has (different computer specs can cause probs) on the PC the Xbox version should smooth out it's multiplayer probs.
