Greetings, fellow Atarians... even if I'm more of a lapsed one at this point...

I'm attending e3 next week and I was curious as to whether anyone else would be. I am also curious as to whether Infogrames will be exhibiting as Atari at the convention... didn't they give away Atari branded water bottles at some gaming event recently?

Can't remember if that was Infogrames last year or so, or Hasbro before that, but yeah.

And given the news, I would that that Infogrames is surely going to have the Fuji flying all over E3 this year, assuming they have the time to make up the displays, and/or don't mind spending the money to do so.

I did like that they used the Atari brand for Ikaragu recently... that's a classic feeling but fun game. I'll have to check out the booth and find out. Maybe I should bring one of my Atari shirts...

You can bet this name changed was planned *WELL* in advance, and was intentionally revealed the week before E3. I think it's safe to say the Atari name and logo will be plastered all over their booth. Just wish I was attending this year so I could check it out in person! Had I known they were going to pull this stunt, I might have made more of an effort to get out there this year. :)

You might be surprised Albert. Word is Infogrames will not have a booth. Of course that could just mean "under that name" but I was told not at all from a reliable source.

I'll be in the convention hall tomorrow BTW :(

Not have a booth! That would certainly be an interesting surprise, how the heck could they not have a booth? Sounds like a publicity stunt to me, spread rumors that they won't have a booth and then people will talk about it and go looking for it at the show! Maybe they spread the word that "Infogrames" wouldn't have a booth since it'd be under the "Atari" name, as you suggest.

Why so early? Does it take Sony that long to setup their elaborate booths? Are you involved with that at all?

Got it from a very reliable source at Infogrames. I suspect it may be true based on some other things I can't talk about. I personally don't know or really care to be honest.

The booth started going up May 1st, and we have 3 days less setup time this year. I don't know what this years count is but 2 years ago it took 72 tractor trailers to unload everything. I'm in charge of anything "product hardware", consoles, kiosks, networking setups, etc.

It does not get any easier ......and I'm not getting any younger :D

Guess we'll all know in a few days. You'll know even sooner. :D

Wow, 72 tractor trailers? That's pretty amazing, and I've been to most of the shows and seen the booths and I never would have imagined it taking *that* many trucks. And two weeks for setup!!

Hope you're able to get everything done in time and that there are no glitches! Guess we won't hear from you again until you get back. :)

Atari will have a booth at E3. it's down the end of the hall to the right just as your walking into the Nintendo/Sony area. They just came by and borrowed some S-video cables from me.

The Infograms guys I spoke with are pretty jazzed about using the Atari name.

Well I guess that's a start. Are there any ex-Atari people working for Infograms at all? I'd hope the current employees would have a healthy respect for the Atari legacy.

They have. A few months ago, Infogrames organized an Atari exposition in france, with old hardware and software :)
