Oh wake up. They are as real as atari as the Warner atari, or the Tramiel Atari. Whoever has the rights to their name and catalogue IS the real atari. So stop being so dumb about it. I'm sick and fucking tired about hearing that excuse from people everywhere.

Whoever the real Atari is, when they make good games they will get my money. The only game on that list that interests me is Colin McRae Rally 3.

Waoo, very intelligent attitude. When I play a game, I don't care about the origin of the publisher, but the fun of the game.

Well the original Atari was sold off to Warner in the 70s...since then they've been nothing but a label, changing hands constantly.

I fail to see how Tempest is any more valid an atari game the Godzilla Destroy All Monsters :P

So if Usama Bin Ladden released a fun game.... you would buy it? C'mon.
I know that is an extreme example, but think about it.

It isn't a hate thing... it isn't a race thing. In fact, my Mom's side of the family is French Canadian.

I don't want this topic to go off on a political rant, but I am in favor of a French boycott until they apologize and change their policies. Please don't go off on me.... that is just how I feel and what I believe. If you want to buy games and support a country's economy that is friends with Saddam and other Terrorist states, go right ahead. When the French economy goes into recession, as I believe it eventually will, they will have to change their policies.

If Atari was owned by a US company I would be more than happy to jump on the "Support the new Atari" bandwagon... I would probably be leading the charge! If onfogrames was owned by GE or something, I would be thrilled. But it isn't, so I'm not!

BTW.... I inadvertantly bought Ikagua for my Cube when it came out.... I now feel bad about that. :(

I say we launch a write-in campaign to have this ported over to the Jaguar. And I nominate liquid sky to write the cover letter for us.

If you hate someone because he's black or asian or arab, it's called racism. What's it called when you hate someone because of their nationality?

I was just wondering, because I have a really, really good friend who is French, and he's a great guy to hang out with. Seems to me that you should judge a person individually, not on their nationality. Otherwise, you might as well go join the Ku Klux Klan.

Anyway...
When I cut-n-pasted that list from amazon.com, I saw a couple good games. It looks to me that Infogrames is doing just as well as Atari. Perhaps better. Infogrames Didn't Go Bankrupt.

Alone in the Dark
Battle Engine Aquila
Civilization 3 (Game of the Year Edition)
Colin McRae Rally 3
D&D Heroes
Dragon Ball Z
Driver 3
Enter the Matrix
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
Godzilla: Domination
Grand Prix Challenge
Grand Prix 4
Ikaruga
Indycar Series
Magic the Gathering
Micromachines
Monopoly Party
Ms. Pac-Man (a revised 3D game)
NASCAR Heat/NASCAR Heat 2: Dirt to Daytona
Neverwinter Nights
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus
Test Drive Off Road
Unreal Tournament 2003
V-Rally 3

Yeah, well I'm Canadian, and I can tell you that "France French" and French Canadian are very different... hell, the language is hardly even the same.

And I don't think you're going to be getting an apology anytime soon. Not only that, but there's a lot of other countries that didn't support the american efforts either. Canada didn't support it, and I'm quite glad they didn't. Do you plan to avoid buying EA sports games because some of them are programmed in Canada?

Oh well... if you want to miss out on some good games just because they're made by a French company, go right ahead.

Quite unfair comparison.

I'm french. I can't stand Bush and his politic (for thousands of reasons I won't explain here, it's not the place for). Will I stop buying american stuff ? NO.
I love american people, and several american products. By boycotting US products I would hurt american people, people who have nothing to do with politics. Like you said... "think about it"... and have fun with your GAMES :)

Apples and oranges. Bin Laden is an individual. "The French" includes an entire nation. You said you refuse to buy from "the French".

Here's what you SHOULD have asked to be consistent with your views:
"So if [Iraqis] released a fun game.... would you buy it?"

My answer is yes. We're already buying their oil, so why not buy their games too. Besides, just because the Iraqi leader was a jerk does not mean the Iraqi programmers are. They're probably no different from you and me.

You're right. People are focusing on france because Bush's administration wanted it, and it seems to be working very well. Canada didn't support war. Germany. Russia. China. Etc. And for the few european countries that supported the war (Uk, and Spain), just look at the *HUGE* crowds in the streets during weeks... I don't know if US Tvs showed that.
Now, just a minute of reflexion... Take one example : Ubi Soft's Splinter Cell, another big French company. X-Box version was developped in canada. PS2 version in China. With very poor sales, who would be fired ? French employees ? No, canadians and chinese...

I don't have a problem with the Iraqis.... I have a problem with Saddam. It maybe an extreme comparison... but it is not an unfair comparison.

I don't have a problem with French Canadians or EA.

I do have a problem with French policy.

Is that clear enough for everyone!?!?!

I am dropping the subject. I don't want to start hating people here. Plus I can see where this is going... I don't want to go there.
