Hi, as there are SO MANY old used PS1, Saturn and N64 games around going for peanuts, I'd like to get your opinions-

Now, we all know what the great games are on pretty much any system, right? The Zeldas, Nights and Xenogears of this world...BUT - what about the others - those games that were pretty fun but not worth paying full-whack for - the ones that are, in your opinions, worth shelling out a couple of bucks to play for a few hours (like most of our 2600 collections :D ) ..erm..to give two examples - Liberogrande and Treasures of the Deep - not classics by any means but definitely fun and worth $5 of anyones money. Any suggestions?

i think from my jaguar collection. you can be damn sure i wouldnt buy half of them at full price. the only games i would have paid was:

wolfenstein 3d
doom
tempest 2000
zool 2
iron soldier.

thats all the games i would buy. ofcourse since i want to collect jaguar games. i have pretty damn stupid games in my collection like "syndicate" "zoop" "bubsy" etcetcetc. i own almost all the top games from the atari jaguar (i just need the AvP and then i am done)

if you want to know what other games i buy at full price. is the following:

sega saturn

panzer dragoon saga (costs $200)
sonic r
sega touring car
fighters megamix
warcraft 2
nights
exhumed
and lists goes on

playstation

warcraft 2
ridge racers series
mr driller
gta series
final fantasy 7

n64

..........

atari 2600

ballblazer

and the list can go on and on.......

Most games that are not worth playing at $50 are not worth playing at $10 either. For example: RC Helicopter. It's only $10, which is cheap, but it's not worth your time.

Vice-versa a really great game like Suikoden 2 is worth buying even if you have to pay $200 for it.

For me, it's the TIME spent that is more important not the money.

@ Liveinabin - Great idea, especially since there are very few games I would give $50+ new...when I see a game I am interested in, I try to guage how oftern I will play the game, and then set me "Sweet Spot" price point.

Thankfully, most of the PS1, Saturn etc. era now falls into my $15 and under category...

I don't own many games for Jaguar, a couple lesser known games I dig are Flip Out! (Juggling game???) and Evolution Dino Dudes (neat little puzzler).

For Saturn: A few maybe hidden gems I like are Astal (side-scroller), Decathlete, Robo Pit (odd little fighter), and Croc

For PS1 - Critical Depth (it's Twisted Metal underwater!!) I have no idea how much it goes for today, I haven't seen it in years... 1 Xtreme (aka ESPN Extreme Games), No One Can Stop Mr. Domino, Incredible Crisis, Jumping Flash, Gunfighter (make sure you have a Guncon!!), Looney Tunes Sheep Raider, Big Strike Bowling.

Uh, Dragonforce, I noticed in your first post up there, you had Ballblazer listed under "atari 2600". Ballblazer was never made for the 2600. I think you mean Atari 7800 or 5200.

Nintendo 64 had some really good ones...

Tetrissphere
Excitebike 64
Custom Robo
Ogre Battle 64

to name a few...

Despite what many people think, Nintendo 64 was a great system.
