Has anyone tried this game out yet?

Being a Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead fan, I HAD to buy this game and at $20 I thought it was a steal. Put the disk in the PS2 and the opening is fantastic! Then the game starts and I'm pleasently surprised as its MUCH better than Hail to the King, it's fun and I'm having a blast.

But then I hit Lvl 2... and I'm ready to throw the controller thru the wall. I die like 30 times in 2hrs as the zombies are RELENTLESS in this level. C'mon, having 40 zombies on yer butt constantly is waaaaay too hard and I could not find a way to stop them at all. I'd start blasting every zombie I saw but would still end up with zombies all over me from all 4 directions at once. I know I'm not the best gamer by any means but this seems impossible to me.

Still glad I bought the game, if nothing more that as an addition to my Evil Dead collection, but I'm not sure I'll be playing this game much. The frustration level for me is INTENSE!

Any thoughts, responses?

I haven't played it yet, and honestly didn't realize it had been released yet. Is it on PS2???

In any case. My thoughts at the moment after reading you post, is that saying something is better than Hail To King, isn't saying much at all. I LOVE the EVIL DEAD trilogy... That Dreamcast game really was the worst POS game in the history of POS games.

Also I can't wait to see others response to this thread. I was really hoping they'd do it right this time. Or at least release a playable game. If it's as hard and as frustrating as you say...I think I might pass on it, or at the very least just rent it.

I love the movies! Especially the second one, cracks me up. Haven't played either games, thought I heard the first one was a piece of shite. I didn't know the second one was out either.

Bruce Campbell rocks

"Hail to the king, baby!"

Yep, its out for PS2.. $19.99 at EB, Best Buy, etc.

Really strange thing: the game came out May 21st or 22nd I believe, but it is not on EB's new release list at all. The only way to find EV: FFoB on the EB website is to do a search for "Evil Dead" and there it is. Never seen EB ignore a new release like this.

The low price and the fact that not many people are even aware the game is out made me wonder if it wasn't worse than Hail to the King. Its got some really cool things, like the making of video and Bruce doing all the voice; some really funny comments he makes, like Duke Nukem.

The game is just really hard and frustrating for me; maybe others will be able to breeze through it.

Also just got the latest issue of EGM; they review it (and not very kindly) and rated it: 2.0, 3.0, 3.0

Oh well...

Yeah I saw the article in EGM. While I don't always go by magazines reviews.... Games like Shadowman and Omikron got lower scores (like 5's ) and I love those games, usually when 3 reviewers all complain about cheap gameplay and terrible control it's a pretty good bet you probably should try before you buy.

This is one game I'll pick up used from BB if I see it for like 6.99. But I wont pay more than that. Disappointing really, it seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to make a game like this....look at Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Hell, hack that game into Evil Dead and I'd buy it.
