I just got a new TV today - a 32 inch Toshiba - and everything seems to work fine on it except my Dreamcast, which is hooked up through my VCR using the composite cables.

Here's the problem - the lower left side of the screen image curves in slightly. Despite all my old TV's other problems, this wasn't one of them.

Any idea what is causing this, or how to fix it?

have you tired hookin it up through the video outs on the tv (if any) and see if you get the same problem?

I'll try that to see what happens, but it can't be a permanent solution. This TV only has one composite/S-video connection on it, on the back, and I need to hook my VCR through it to get my TV signal. The only other connection is a component, which I'm using for my DVD.

I guess if it does work right hooked up directly to the TV composite, maybe I can get one of those multiple hookup units that would allow me to hook up more than one thing through that connection. I've read you don't lose any signal quality through those things.

Didn't seem to make any difference how I hooked it up. Whether directly to the TV's composites, through my VCR Line 1 or VCR Line 2 - it looks like on the left side, the side of the screen is curving in. On some it looks like it starts half way down, on others it looks like it just starts at the top left corner, then immediately curves in and then goes straight down, about a quarter of an inch to the right.

I also hooked up my Jag with its composites. Some Jag games look OK. Others are like the Dreamcast, with the left side not looking right.

And IIRC, when I played Shenmue II, both the left and right sides of the screen did this. In all the cases, the sides are still straight, it's just that the image doesn't go as far left or right as an image from the TV, VCR or DVD.

I'm guessing maybe it has something to do with the resolution of the game systems, or particular games? I'd suspect if there was something wrong with the TV, I'd be seeing this all the time, and I'm not.

This may seem like a weird question but are there stereo speakers right next to the TV? Some speakers have a strong enough magnet to actually "warp" part of the screen. It would probably happen all of the time though. In the first TV studio I worked in they had installed new high power studio moniter speakers around our TV moniters and they all warped the picture until somebody finally moved them about 3 inches over.

Nope, no speakers next to it. It's in an entertainment center, with about an inch to inch and a half clearance on either side and then walls. My stereo speakers are far above and away from the TV. And the TV speakers are on the bottom.
