Not to start a war or anything but those who say that the DC is not dead are just trying to fool themselves. A homebrew release does not mean that the DC is "back in business". And getting iso's or cdi's of DC games in no way hurts the programmers and publishers of those games. Thay are not selling those games at KB Toys or the "R" US stores. You are however hurting retail chains that sell used DC stuff. I'm not condoning piracy at all (no matter what my reputation around here has become) but the DC is in fact a DEAD system. Call up Sega and ask them to ship you out some info on the DC and see what they tell you if you don't believe me. Think I'm full of shat go to Sega's page on the DC - http://sega.com/game...dreamcast.jhtml. If your too lazy to click here you go.

The release of NHL 2K2 marks the end of the Sega Dreamcast's remarkable run. While production of the Dreamcast may be over, the legacy lives on. You can still find Dreamcast games online through Amazon.com. And for a complete list of all 248 Dreamcast titles, take a look at the Dreamcast Checklist. To purchase Dreamcast replacement parts and accessories, please visit www.sega-parts.com.

All that's left is the Legacy. Don't get me wrong I love my DC but it's a dead system.

Recently, when I thought I was having a problem with my DC, I e-mailed Sega and they replied back that I would be able to send it to them for repair.

Games are still being sold at TRU. I bought two there this weekend, as I said. I've gotta believe DC games are still protected by copyrights.

It's no longer being produced, but I wouldn't call it "dead."

... and I can't believe all this is over because the guy can't pick up the DC in his kid's room and take it to another room to use while he's sleeping.

Thank you puddwakr!
Oh,   and in refernce to the "piracy" term....
1)  Read my original post.  I only want it to play a game I PAID FOR AND OWN!
2) Tell me you've never used an emulator for Atari, SNES or any system and I'll let you know just what animals crap you are full of.

Stop being righteous people. I didn't ask whether or not you think what I'm doing is right.  If you can't point me to what I asked for,  then move along.

Yikes.

Post on a message board, be prepared for responses you may not want to hear.

Tell Sega that you would not like to go through the hassle of repairing your system and would just like to get yourself a new one and ask how much they are currently charging for them, I'd be curios to their response.

1. the Dreamcast is far from dead. Lik Sang is announcing the addition of something like 8 re-releases and 5 or 6 independent dev releases with many more to come. Add to that the HUNDREDS of home brew and emulation games most of which are perfectly legal and you have a system that to my eye is often more appealing to play than many of my so called "new" systems. [can i get an amen on the 2600 and 800 emus for the DC!!!]

2. anyone who uses anything other than usenet for downloads of binaries deserves what they get.

3. anyone who finds the need to ask "where can I find..." on a message board needs to be initiated in the proper use of a search engine. [and then summarily spanked]

4. if you have any interest whatsoever in DC as a scene then the only site to visit is http://www.dcemulation.com [beware of some popups]

5. there is no dc emulator silly... no tooth fairy either.

6. DCs are like 40-50 bucks now... what the hell are you waiting for?

7. MOST of the games can be found used for 3-5 bucks.

8. when the overwhelming advice from fellow message board users is that you just break down and get a used DC, you should prolly listen since it was you who asked for the advice in the first place.

go get 'em tiger!

I wouldn't say that. Most places you are still going to see $9.95 - $14.95 prices. GameXchange, CompUSA, etc..

BestBuy was the only truly cheap place I knew of, with discounted games as cheap at $5.95. But it's been over a year since I last saw a DC game there. :(

I think it probably has to do with where you live. I found a bunch of DC games at the local Blockbuster 'cause they were liquidating them, all for like $3. Then I found a slew at the EB all in the $5 range. I got Alone in the Dark for like $8, and I regularly see them listed cheaply on Ebay.

They're out there, you just gotta keep looking.

There are only a couple of places here that have DC games. I refuse to pay damn near full price for used games at EB Games.

Bleemcast.

There are two official releases that play the PS1 games Tekken 3 and GTA on your Dreamcast that you can still find in some game stores.

There are also some "unofficial releases" .

EBgames.com has used DC games at very good prices. Very good service, have dealt with them on a few occasions.
