Is it just me or does the Gameboy Color screen reflect light better than the GBA's? I have two GBAs and picked up a Gameboy Color at a garage sale with Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I find that I have an easier time seeing the gaming action using the Gameboy as opposed to using my GBA. Anybody else share this observation or am I just crazy?

Maybe its me but I find the GBC display to be much brighter and clearer than the GBA screen. I tried an experiment not too long ago and had both systems side by side and put the same game in both systems and to me it was much, much, much easier to see the game and game details on the GBC than it was on the GBA.

Yep I've always noticed this myself. I can see the GBC screen a lot better. Matter of fact, when I was playing Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons, I had intended to play it on my then brand-new Gameboy Advance.. But after a while I just got tired of the screen and instead opted to finish both games on the GBC. It was just a whole lot easier to see.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Any ideas as to why the GBC screen is easier on the eyes?

The GBA screen is awful. Without the maglight I wouldn't be able to see it at all.

IMHO, the GBC had the best screen of any GameBoy yet released.

NGPC totally rules. And not only does it have a great screen, the d-pad/control stick is my favorite.

The SP is really worth the money. I've bought (and actually played) more GBA games than when we had the "normal" GBA. Yeah, I wish Nintendo had gone with a front-lit screen to begin with, but I'm playing the SP more than our Xbox...

I didn't think the GBA's screen was too bad until I bought a second-hand Neo Geo Pocket Color. Now it seems just unbearable.

Fortunately I bought a GBA SP, so the screen problem is gone; however, I can't play it with the front-light off.

Actually it also looks great sitting on the john (where I did a lot of my GBA playing anyway).. usually there's a nice bright heat lamp or other light right over it so it works out well. :D

..course w/ the GBA SP it's a moot issue so oh well :P

Maybe time has clouded my memory of the GBC screen, but I really didn't see much difference between the GBA and GBC screen except for the extra glare that you get with the GBA. Why they still haven't made the screen anti-reflective is beyond me....

Want anti-glare? Either coat the system with quartz, or take a brillo pad to it.

I've been playing the GBC more and more, and the screen is much easier on the eyes. It's good!

Yeah. That's pretty much what we're talking about I thought. :) That glare makes all the friggin difference in seeing in low light conditions (in comparison to the GBC).

But oh well. GBA SP is the way to go I guess :D

I thought the GBC screen was clearer than the GBA. The GBA reflects more light and glare than the GBC.

The GBC is a TFT 160hx144v screen, while the GBA is a TFT 240hx160v

I noticed when I play a GBC game on GBA, it shows a smaller picture. This is probably why it seems better on the GBC, the image is bigger. Try it side by side sometime.

The only way I could ever see GBC games clearly on GBA was to tap the L button and stretch it widescreen. Luckily most games still look OK that way, but it seems to help a lot when viewing the game.
