It shocked me when I saw it. You'd have to be pretty insane to do this to your controller.

I can see a number of problems with this idea:
[list]Although I don't know how the rumble in an XBox controller is, I know that Dreamcast games seem to use it an awful lot... as a consequence, I can't imagine the batteries in this thing would last terribly long. Especially considering this shock device is probably only meant for occaisional use rather than 20 or 30 a minute.
[*]Since most devices that generate such large voltages generally require a charge time, I wonder how this would affect repeated shocks.
[*]If you're sending shocks through your hand, it would seem to me that this might cause problems playing the game, since your muscles might contract because of the shock. Considering that the shock points are right near where your "thumb muscle" sits, this could be a problem.
[*]I don't really see how getting repeated shocks through your left hand really simulates getting punched at all.[list]
It's an interesting hack, but not one that I would try. I sure hope he added an on/off switch.

Reminds me of when Sean Connery played that videogame in 'Never Say Never Again'

I don't know about that reference, but it's a bit like the homeversion of the Painstation...Pong that can deliver electric shock, heat, or flagellation via a small whip.

Somehow I like the poetic irony of adding a "pest shocker" to an XBox controller. ;-) "HALO IS THE BEST VIDEO GAME EVER!" Bzz! "OW! WHAT THE HELL???"

Nice, but it should only shock you if you make a false statement. :P

My next statement is false.
My previous statement was true.

Even simpler:
"This statement is false."

Stuff like this actually destroyed the faith in math of many mathematicians in the first half of the 20th century.

Technically, "those germans" could just be those germans...not "the germans", as in all germans...

Not sure I would call that a game, since the whole thing was so incomprehensible -- more like what Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation played against some alien strategist that he lost out to in playing but then developed the strategy of keeping his opponent in an eternal stalemate. But boy, that really took the idea of "force feedback" to a discomforting level that I'm not sure I would want in a game controller, no matter how silly the game using it might look!

I'd rather be burned and whipped by the PainStation as opposed to having my heart stopped by an XBox controller.
