Is it the same kind of box and instructions that you would find overseas? My Fatal Run box and docs look just like all my other red label boxes. Would be nice to add a box and docs for my NTSC Xenophobe. :D It seems the boxed ones are pretty common:

The front and back look the same. There may be a difference on the sides. I can't tell from any of those auctions what the sides of the box look like.

Mine (2600, NTSC) looks like the regular 7800 manuals...the cheap duo-tone (red/black) cover photo with black text inside. The info on the back says: Printed in Hong Kong, G.C.10.1990, C300016-172 Rev. A (along with the Sunnyvale address and Atari logo. Of course it says 2600 Game Manual on the front...

My manual has a mistake in collating (page order). I've actually got two manuals that have been put together as one...It goes Cover,1,2,3,Cover 1-8,Back Cover,4-Back Cover.

Oh...I meant to add that I have a (PAL) Sentinal box/instructions and I can't see anywhere on the box/instructions that indicates it's a PAL version. So I guess what I'm saying is that there is no difference in the packaging. I can post pics/scans if necessary...

Na its okay, its just like my fatal run box. Its just good to know that its not worth spending extra money for a boxed rare red label NTSC cart. Thanks!

Wonder how many people have put this knowledge to practice already?

What's even scarier is most current NTSC television sets will play PAL games. I have a Sylvania 23" TV (bought last year) that doesn't require any adjusting (vertical roll) and plays them without a glitch whatsoever. At least on the older televisions you were consciously aware of the roll problem (required manual adjustment).

Modern TVs may fix the rolling problem, but wouldnt the colors still be messed up?

I bought a PAL Miner 2049er II (CPUWiz) recently and I can't see the color problems that have been discussed before with PAL games. Now, granted, I'm not looking at screen shots of the NTSC version while I have the PAL version fired up, but nothing stands out. If you didn't have a reference to go by, I'd bet most people would never notice the difference. Especially on games like Acid Drop and Pick N Pile...

Colors on my NTSC tv look fine with PAL games. The screen is somewhat wavy... but playable.

Strange how some TV's do wierd things and others dont.

When it comes to spending money, I prefer to pay 2/3 less or so for a PAL game that works on my set versus what a much sought after NTSC counterpart will fetch. Both games are equal in my opinion. If you can’t distinguish one from the other, where does the bias come into play? As long as you’re not trying to pass the game off as something it’s not...

I would imagine that Pal games are also more rare as less would have been made (smaller market). But are easy to pick up as they are not in demand as much as NTSC carts.

There is a very small number of European/Australian collectors compared to North America

Just a thought.... maybe Pal games are an investment for the future.
