I'm going through another season with my Eagles and I must say that I think the teams get harder as you move along. I almost lost in week 10 against the Browns! :?

I'm 10-2 with the Eagles and it seems to play much harder than the preseason games, anyone else notice this? or is it just me?

Another question, It seems like all the players are represented except for Randall Cunningham who is known as "Eagles QB" and I think Jim Kelly for the Bills is missing as well. Was this a licensing thing? Contract dispute? any ideas?

I've been playing this game for about 15 years and I don't think the teams get that much harder, once you get the hang of defense with your team, you can score at will and hold the opponent down. I think this game really shines 2-player though :)

But I probably have been playing too long, I don't really remember my first impressions of the game from 1989 except that Lawerence Taylor was 10 times faster than any other player in the game :D

I do remember in the original and in TSB, the Brown runners are killers. Mack and the other guy could knock over defensemen at will with some stiff-arms.

I bet the missing players are licensing issues, they probably had other games or deals signed up. It would be interesting to see if they kept Montana's name in the Genesis or SNES Tecmo Bowls because he had his own game through another company by then.

I always thought the other team does get harder as you progress.
I can remember that from the original Tecmo Bowl also.

Techmo Super Bowl and the original are my two favorite games for the NES.

Techmo Basketball (Did I get the name right?) is also a good game.

yeah I can win big in preseason mode, but it just seems my guys have gotten a bit slower as the season progresses. Maybe it's just me. I almost lost to the Cardinals this morning! My guys are definitely a bit slow footed lately. Hopefully they can get rested for the playoffs. Hmm maybe I'll try to bench a few guys for the last few games?

Yeah and Lawrence Taylor still flies! lol

You are probably right, come to think of it, I haven't played a whole season on my real NES in a couple of years, usually I stick to 2 player exhibition games. I have mostly played seasons on emulators and I've also been using updated rosters and team attributes. Have you seen these pages?

This game will never die :D

try this, next season, use the New England Patriots or Tampa Bay, and sub in all the worst players on bad. then play the season. im in the process of doing this with the patriots. i went 12-4 thru the regular season (bills and jets were my losses) and im about to go head up with pittsburgh in the AFC championship. This adds some serious challenge if youve been playing this game for years like i have. the scores are more 10-7 instead of 72-0, i think that was my best.

Or, you can put the absolute worst guys in the entire game on one of the pro bowl teams and then play the other conferences real probowlers. thats interesting too.
