Anyone have a take on the NUON? Is it worth playing/collecting? I know there aren't too many titles.

Thanks,
Steve

I got a Samsung N504 + T3K, IS3, Merlin racing, Freefall and Space invaders XL.
T3K- is 1 piece of eyecandy if you like trippy effects.. It's a lot tougher than T2K imo and all the effects make it impossible to see whats happening at times.
Merlin racing- is more or less a 3D version of Atari carts. It looks and plays pretty good. The first boss is very difficult though and i didn't beat it yet.
Freefall- is a weird game. It doesn't look bad, but the controls are hard to get into.
SIXL- I wouldn't recoment this one to anyone unless they really like space invaders. The gfx suck. Sound effects are boring. Only the music is ok.
IS3- Officially not released, but a great game. It is not much different from the other IS's on the Jag except for more polies and textures. Weather effects and a new bot to choose from. The game seems to be a little more difficult than the other versions and ofcourse the controls with the Jagpad where much better. The FMV alone is already great. Imo it is one of the best fmv i have seen for a game..

Then there's Ballistic and The Next Tetris.. those where only released with a machine and very hard to get. From what i understand those games don't push the Nuon hardware in anyway and might be just as disapointing as SIXL in terms of gfx and sound.

There are some homebrews like Bombuzal wich looks nice, doom looks pretty nice too, chomp? a pacman clone wich they say is good and a few others and some in the making. I still have to try the homebrews so i can't say much about them.

The VLM is great on all the Nuon machines, but from what i understand the N504 has the VLM that is closest to what Yak wanted it to be. In other machines they lowered the resolution or the amount of effects, ripped out the interactive bit and so on.

Apart from all that, the N504 is a just a great DVD player. As Nuon players don't cost more than any other good player i think it is worth to have one. The games aren't expensive, apart from the rare ones. And there aren't many games so it is possible to get them all.

A new Nuon player? Geez.
I thought that chipset had been dead for a couple years now.

Yeah but that player doesn't really utilize the Nuon. It doesn't really run any Nuon software. So it is useless for the ones who want to play the games. It seems to be a great DVD player though.
