I walked away from eBay and PayPal over a year ago, but I'm running out of storage space and need to seriously consider a way of selling some of my duplicates and stuff.

Is there a serious competitor to eBay yet? Yahoo auctions was pretty crap a year or so ago, and they've pulled some stupid privacy crap with Yahoo accounts too, so I don't have one of those anymore either.

It'd be cool if the AtariAge store had a secondhand feature like Amazon, but that's undoubtedly a lot of work for the AA team, with questionable return. Short of bunging photos on a personal website with a bunch of high prices, are there any new, decent, ways of selling stuff on the Internet?

And any competitors to PayPal?

What is your aversion to them? They ain't perfect, but they do work. Many people use both services and you get tremendous exposure that you don't get elsewhere. Maybe now is the time to reconsider? :?

Do you have a list of stuff to sell? I'm still looking for quite a few rares. :D

eBay's regular fees increases and features decreases, plus all the loser who bid on your stuff then never reply.

Paypay's amazingly excessive "International Transaction" fees, even when both accounts are in US$.

I guess that's the first step isn't it. Oh, well, I found the charger for my digital camera a week ago, so I might start putting together an inventory.

I don't have many rares though, at least I don't think so.

There are sites that use an ebay type of interface. I don't know what is required in terms of costs and requirements though. A good example of what I mean is the goodwill site or www.playerauctions.com

It seems like it would take more effort and money than classic gaming would return though.

Just sell your stuff to people here. You'll never have to worry about a transaction gone bad, somebody not paying, or the listing fees. ;)

*Ahem* That's an overly optimistic statement there, MMF. :|

I'm starting a list at http://krisjohn.atari.org/stuff.html -- Very raw at the moment.

I have a price guide that I'll work from when I can't find any sign of the carts on eBay, or in AA's marketplace forum.

All comments welcome.

I've only gotten really burned by Pooyan, other than that this is the best/greatest community of collectors and traders I know. You're a perfectly perfect example of a square, fair, honest, and excellent person to do a deal with. :D

The fact that you're from Australia will limit the amount of prospective buyer's from this board, there just aren't alot of peeps from your part of the world kicking it here. I'm assuming most of what you own is PAL. And common games, and starter packages aren't as easy to move on a board where most everyone already has that sort of stuff anyway. :|

Even thou ebay can be a pain, it's still the most widely used of all the auction sites, and you'd run into the same issues on ANY online auction site, only difference, is you'll see fewer bids elsewhere. IF it gets any bids at all. :ponder:

Yahoo is the next best thing to ebay, then you have Bidville & Epier, I'm not sure what else is still around. There are some geared towards electronics and whatnot, but still ebay is the best.

And as far as Paypal goes, that's the most convenient of the payment services around, and is probably the best option for you as a seller. Fees do suck, I believe even living in the US, my fees go up when I accept Payments from overseas. It's been awhile since I looked it up, but I think it's an extra 1% or .30 cents + 3.9% of transaction. You could probably adjust your "handling" charges to offset the costs of payment services? :ponder: I know most people, including myself are against such actions, but still you have to do what's best for you.

Ultimately, you would best off selling stuff thru ebay, and accepting Paypal. But it doesn't hurt to at least try to make some sells/trades here first. :)

And I agree with everyone else's statements, This is the BEST board to work out deals with other collectors. It's rare when someone does come in here and tries to cheat/lie/steal from other members. That sort of stuff happens daily on some sites.

It's a shame that eBay and PayPal really are the only game in town.

I think I might spend more time in AA's Marketplace forum...

Thanks everyone.
