Come on, admit it. I can't be the ONLY bad dancer on here.

I just played the arcade game for the first time (been playing the PS1 version) and it's a bit different. The song selection (I played 5th mix) is a LOT better than on Konamix.

I've been playing beginner mode - where there's a step every other beat. The arcade game of course has a step every beat. I didn't do too badly - I cleared all three songs my second play and even strung together a 77 combo on a three-footer.

Every time I play this game I get re-addicted to it. I originally though it was a stupid concept until I actually *played* it at Philly Classic.

A friend of mine with a PSX burned the Disney version (It was the only one he could find at the time... he's still looking for more), and bought a dance mat. We actually had quite a bit of fun with it, even though we weren't very good at all (I'm not about to play in the arcade).

We were able to do decent on the 3-4 star levels, but beyond that we would just fall all over ourselves. Still fun though.

We always try to get some of the girls to play, but they're generally too self-conscious to go through with it  I guess it doesn't help that we make fun of them... but it's only fair since they always claim to be able to dance better, yet suck at the game compared to the guys (Of course, DDR and actual dancing are hardly similar, but whatever)

I play.

Badly.

6'1" 340 pounds...

it ain't pretty.

I can pass almost anything up to 3 feet, and a few 4 footers...past that, I look like a really fat wounded duck.

I might want to try out such a game, but I'm not sure about being stuck with yet another Power Pad-type mat controller. I liked Dance Aerobics for the NES for the brief time that I had that game. I think such games might be better if they were programmed to allow using your own music CDs in a hot-swap sort of way, but that may be some time coming.

I don't feel like making an a*s of myself at an actual arcade, so buying the home version would be the only option for me. Luckily, I tried it once and thought it was stupid. Haven't touched the game in any form since.

I just saw that a version is coming out for the Xbox shortly and it's online :) Now I can't dance at all, I seem to appear that I am having a seizure but I will probably pick up the XB version just for the hell of it. One of the kick ass thinsg about online gaming - nobody can see how big of an ass you are when trying to dance :D

I used to understand being embarrased about looking like a fool on the game in an arcade. Then I realized that 99.8765% of the people standing around the machine were worse than I was.

I have no problem playing in public anymore (although I usually play beginner level, just because I like listening to the songs a lot :) )
