Can anyone give me a list of Xbox exclusive games, a friend of mine is considering buying an Xbox and asked me what games were exclusive, all I could think of were Halo, Shenmue 2 (at least in the US), Soldier of Fortune 2. I can find lists of Xbox games, but there is no way to tell which are exclusive to Xbox.

Cel Damage isn`t exclusive, but i doubt anyone cares about that one. And if you mean console exclusive, then that list is pretty true, but if you include pc, then a good few are also availible on PC

Yup, you are right about Cel Damage on both counts :D And I assumed if he was looking to get an Xbox, then some that are available on the PC he would recognize or maybe he doesn't play games on a PC. And I think Ninja Gaiden is the only one I put on there that isn't out yet.

I hate to say it, but none of those games that are exclusive do i care about, and those that i do are on PC, which i prefer for those style of games. and Halo, the main selling point for me, is coming to PC in the next few months, with new weapons, online out of the box, and you can pilot the banshee in multiplayer!!!

Looks like Half-Life 2 and Doom3 will be Xbox only also. Whats that? They are also on the PC too you say? Well then I'll just go pay $2000 for a computer that can run them. Ohh no wait I'll just play them on my $200 Xbox ;) Funny when you mention Xbox games people always say you can play them on your $1000+ PC. Why is playing them on a M$ Xbox worse than playing them on M$ Windows?

Because they usually look better on the PC and often cost less ($30-$40 for PC vs. $50 for XBOX). Also, the point is not that you should choose to pay $1000 for a computer to play games instead of $200 for an XBOX. It's that most people already have a computer to play the games, so why bother throwing another $200 to play inferior versions on a television set?

That being said, I generally prefer to play on a console than a PC due to the stability question. But the overall point is that many of the XBOX's "exclusives" are really "console exclusives", while most of the PS2 and GameCube exclusives really are.

Xbox games usually look better on a PC yes. But most people have to spend $$ on a new graphics card, a little more RAM, etc just to make them look better than the Xbox version. There goes your $10 in saving on the game. I don't even count the PC when it comes to exclusive titles. My PC (and I'm sure many others) couldn't even hope to run Half-Life 2. Will the Xbox version look as good as the PC version? Nope. Will it cost me only $50 to play it no matter what? Yup. Can my PC run GTA? Probably at 15 frames per second, so to me it still is exclusive to the PS2. The XBox is a cheap $200 PC in a black box. They won't be upgrading the OS rendering past games useless. That is what is good about it.

Ok let's have a random look at this question.... Here is a list of my own Xbox Games. Let's see how many are available elsewhere (I will need some help with this)

1. Midnight Club II - ? (maybe on PC but not sure)
2. Ghost Recon - Ported to everything (Xbox best version by far)
3. Time Splitters II - Ported to everything (All versions similar)
4. Pirates Legend of Black Kat - Exclusive
5. Shrek - Exclusive
6. Dave Mirra BMX 2 - ? (I think it is on other consoles but not sure)
7. Burnout - Ported from PS2
8. Mech Assault - Exclusive
9. Jet Set Radio Future - Exclusive
10. Rally Fusion - Exclusive (I think)
11. Crash - Exclusive (I think)
12. Splinter Cell - No longer exlusive
13. Fifa World Cup 2002 - Available on anything in one version or another
14. Serious Sam - PC and Xbox only
15. Wreckless - Exclusive
16. Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer - Exclusive
17. Rally Sport Challenge - Exclusive
18. Halo - Exclusive
19. Whacked - Exclusive
20. Bloodwake - Exclusive
21. Moto GP - Exclusive
22. Castle Wolfenstein Tides of War - On PC but Xbox is bigger
23. 4X4 Evo - Exclusive (I think)
24. DOA III - Exclusive
25. Oddworld Munchs Oddesey - Exclusive

So if I am correct that is a minimum of 16 out of 25 which are exclusive. It maybe more.

Please fill in the gaps and correct anything I am wrong on.

Pesonally I don't care about exclusive games, If a game is available for all consoles then more people get to enjoy them. I used to have all 3 consoles but realised it was a bit of a silly situation and sold the other 2. So as a one console family we don't mind ported games as long as the're good ports.

5. Shrek - Exclusive
->Released on GameCube as Shrek: Extra Large

6. Dave Mirra BMX 2 - ? (I think it is on other consoles but not sure)
-> Yes. Came out on all systems

11. Crash - Exclusive (I think)
-> Bandicoot? If so, it's on all systems.

15. Wreckless - Exclusive
-> The Yakuza Missions? On all systems

16. Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer - Exclusive
-> On all systems

17. Rally Sport Challenge - Exclusive
-> What game is this? I can't find anything on it.

21. Moto GP - Exclusive
-> Weird. There's a version from Namco on the PS2, but they have completely different artwork and the XBOX game is from THQ. Not sure if they are the same.

22. Castle Wolfenstein Tides of War - On PC but Xbox is bigger
-> PS2 has Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection

23. 4X4 Evo - Exclusive (I think)
-> On PS2 and Dreamcast

funny how quickly this became a 'console X is better than console Y'/'X-Box is better than a pc' topic. But, there are many reasons why i prefer PCs for FPS' and RTS'. Keyboard is just better for playing them, you can get mods and patchs if there are any bugs or new maps released. and more reasons. And actually, on a side note, Valve says that with scalling for older systems, Half Life 2 will prolly be able to run on a 600 mhz machine with a decent graphics board. And nowadays, you can get a 1.2 ghz, with a geforce 3 and 512 RAM for around $700. And you can use it for many more things than a console. And don`t think i`m bashing the X-Box, even though i do hate it and M$, but i just really am not that impressed with any console as it is, and i think the PC invents new stuff more so than a console. Consoles may invent a genre, but the PC perfects it, in my opinion. I only like consoles for RPGs, Platformers and racing/sports games, FPS' are ok on them too, just i can manage better on a PC. And last reason why i like PC online play more than X-Box, is cause you don`t have to pay anything more than your broadband fee, unless you play a subscription game

You CAN'T mean Crash Bandicoot, do you? It's funny because Crash was practicaly the PlayStation's mascot!

Ha Ha Ha! It's like a Mario game being made on the XBox, or a Sonic the Hedgehog game being made on the GameCube! ...wait a sec :ponder:

No not that orange bandicooty thing, I mean CRASH by RAGE. It's a Demolition Derby type game

Moto GP is a totally different game to PS2.

Yes I spelt Rallisport Challenge wrong, thank you for correction.

Castle wolfenstein on PS2 is completely different game isn't it?

So is Ghost Recon I believe?

Thank you to everyone who corrected me on stuff like Kelly Slaters Pro Surfing etc. I had not seen other versions for sale.

It all comes down to personal preference, really. FPS is fun, but I prefer not to play RTS, period.

I prefer a double-analog console pad for FPS, which dovetails neatly with my preference to lean back on a couch. I also prefer to play a (usually) bug-free console game, rather than downloading a series of patches.

I prefer not to spend $700, since I already put $200 down on an Xbox.

I also rarely prefer to do anything on my computer that my P3 400 can't do.

I would be interested to read about examples of this "perfecting" thing, other than RTS (which I believe that Herzog Zwei for Genny launched, and which has been developed quite well on the PC).

You raise a good point with the fact that Xbox Live is a pay service, but if you can say that a new computer costs only $700, I'm sure I can say that Live costs only $50/year.

Of course, I love my PC, the true home of Doom and LucasArts's XWing series of games. PC space shooter sims blow similar console games out of the water, partly because of the intended audience, and partly because it's hard to get 30 functions onto a console controller. So I will always have an obsolete PC hanging around the house to enjoy the previous generation of space shooter sims (a dying breed, it seems).

But I'm too cheap to upgrade a PC with any regularity, and too lazy to deal with compatibility issues and patches. And I think there's something charming about dedicated game consoles.

Anyway, since the PC vs. console thing all personal preference, nobody's going to be convined by anybody's arguments, so let us continue our personal chauvenisms regarding our game rigs of choice.

As far as exclusive games go, all your friend really needs to know is that an Xbox and Steel Battalion is only $400 (if he can find SB at retail price--good luck with that one). The biggest console with the biggest controller = the biggest fun!

You will be able to get the controller with the new game - Steel Battalion:Line of Contact. Those that have the controller will only have to fork over $50 for the Disc. Those unfortunate souls who are wandering the earth aimlessly because the have never played SB will be able to spend more and get the disc and controller ($200 ?). If you missed out on the first one make sure you don't miss again.
