I'd get a black to go with my black cube.

Moat of that stuff looks like it's leftover stock or refurbished. It'll eventually run out.

Leftover stock (I've never gotten anything refurbished in the 2 years I've been ordering from them). And yeah, it does run out eventually; they stopped selling SNES cart dust sleeves for example and I used to be able to get a 10 pack or two every time I ordered.

Probably an insentive to not lose the damn disc no matter what.

That really is a crappy price, though.

I mean, if you can't use it without a player and you can't use the player without it, there's no reason someone would try and score a new disc unless they already had a player. So why charge? Especially $15. That's like.. Apple charging $20 to ship you a free piece of software.

Jasoco, I'm just curious, do you have a personal problem with Nintendo? I'm not saying $15 isn't a little egregious for a replacement disc myself, but it seems as though the only things you have to say about Nintendo are negative. I may be a "fan boy" of Nintendo products per se but I try to take a balanced approach. I don't hate Sony because I love my Cube, I just realize they're different systems meant to fulfill different gaming needs. :D

Heh..

Wait.. Wait a minute. Let me stop laughing.

Heh.. personal problem with.. Ha.. HA! HAHAHAHAHA!! What the?! Hahaha..

Riight. You don't know me very well. I've owned every Nintendo system aside from the Virtual Boy and you're asking if I have a problem with Nintendo? If there's one company I want to survive this whole war, it IS NINTENDO!

Sorry.. I have to continue laughing now.

Not only at that statement, but also at Family Ties.. it's on TV. But mainly what you said.

Understood. I just mistook some part of how every response seemed to be angry at Nintendo for making the GBP disc based, and charging too much for replacements. I figure hey, it's their right, on both counts. Just gives you an incentive not to lose the disc. :D

Hey.. if I had one and I lost my disc, it'd be my own fault and I'd gladly pay to get another disc. It just seems high, but as long as it's available.

Just my opinion but I think $15 for a replacement disk is out of line. Since I've never lost any game disk, that shouldn't be a problem and I seriously doubt ANY company would replace a lost disk anyway. I'm more worried about damaged disks. Things do happen; wait until most of you have Rug Rat's of your own, you'll find out what "I didn't touch it, Daddy" damage is.

From my experience, most computer companies charge you little more than the cost of shipping to get a replacement disk. I just think Nintendo could be a little more customer friendly by charging a price more in line with the product. Sending $5 and your damaged disk for replacement gives more good customer reaction than gouging them for $15 does. Especially when they sell a demo disk for $9.95

One thing I did notice: how many posts do you see here on AA where someone complains about paying "$3.95 shipping for a single game cart!! :x " from eBay when it costs the seller $1 to ship, yet $15 for a replacement disk from Nintendo gets a "its their right" or "I'm just glad its available" sort of reaction :)

Not flaming.. just taking notice of the different reactions to the same situation: price gouging.

Well..... Nintendo is not customer friendly company,
they're a profit friendly company. Look how they charged gamers $25 or $30 for the
N64 expansion pack. That could have been placed on the motherboard for what,
2-3 bucks?

Glad you said it first.

I agree. It's too much. But I don'[t own one anyway, so it doesn't affect me... yet.

Agreed. I put a post in another topic about my son forgetting the AC cable to his GBA SP while we were on vacation and the replacement cord was $20 plus tax from Best Buy. He wouldn't pay it so when the battery ran dead he did without.

Seems I read one time that if you tried to rebuild a $20,000 car with nothing but replacement parts from the dealer, that same car would cost you $60,000 - $70,000.

Really? I always thought you could build a new computer cheaper by ordering kits & parts from the internet than you could buying one prebuilt from CompUSA or whatever.

That's why you don't go through a dealer to get parts. I'd NEVER go to a Honda dealership to get a new clutch for my Civic.

I got mine with DK64 -- didn't seem to add anything to the price of the game, so for all intents and purposes, I got my expansion pack for free.

Remember, the N64 uses Rambus, not normal SDRAM -- so, at the time the N64 was hitting the market, it might've caused the system to cost another $50 or so (I dunno -- just tossing a figure out). And now they're just charging more for the expansion pack due to supply and demand.

I think I'd have to disagree with the statement that Nintendo is not customer friendly -- while it is true that they have to earn a profit, they seem more customer friendly than Microsoft or Sony in some ways... I'd be surprised if you can somehow order a replacement battery cover for a Sony Walkman that was sold back in 1989. On the other hand, I can easily purchase a replacement battery cover for the original GB (and if I'm not mistaken, you can also get the link port cover that used to come standard on the original). Same goes for Microsoft -- try ordering the manual for Windows 3.0 from them sometime... but, on the other hand, you can get the manuals for old GB games from Nintendo -- as long as they made the game.

I still think Nintendo takes waaaay too much flak for all that they have done. I'm not trying to say that they are perfect, but I think people tend to have zero tollerance with Nintendo when they are willing to take any turd that comes out of Sony or Microsoft and call it gold

Sorry for the rant :D I'm gonna go back to playing Advance Wars 2 again... :)
