i dont understand what your asking.. when ANYTHING goes out of business you can buy prototypes.. hell you can buy prototypes for stuff right now, but risk the seller violating an NDA or the like.

Then where can I get unreleased dreamcast games and dev units???
Since Xbox and Atari are both US made systems it's prob going to be alot easier to get then non-US stuff.

Of course, you're assuming IF the Xbox goes under. Nothing's written in stone. I'm hoping for Sony to go away before the Xbox does.

i hear that ;)

but im thinking that maybe nintendo might pull away from the home console market before any of the 2 (not giving a period in time) - unfortunatly it looks as tho Sony will be competeing for a while with MS hopefully MS can pull ahead ;)

If nintendo pulls out of the console market.. I'll eat my hat. I personally don't see it happening :D

Well, I don't see Microsoft leaving either. They already said they'd do everything to keep it up. And we all know they have the money.

So, I see N or Sony leaving sooner than Microsoft. And since I'd hate to lose the Mario series (As horrible as it's gotten) I'd rather Sony leave.

I like having all 3 consoles. I'd like them all to stay, and develop their own niche in the marketplace........There is certainly enough consumers for this.

I like having all 3 consoles competing as well, however, I think Nintendo will stop making Consoles very soon (although Gameboys will go on for a few years yet).

M/S are just establishing the Xbox name and status, and Sony already have the Playstation name established. The real war begins on the next generation platforms. I think Nintendo have had their fingers burnt with poor Gamecube sales and will just make software and handhelds in future probably (but you never know what's around the corner).

Which leaves....
M/S Vs Sony - If Microsoft have the balls and are prepared to lose a billion or two they should win the battle, but if they start thinking short term business, they may pull the almighty plug and Sony will look like super heros and M/S will look like embarrased fools. I don't think M/S will do that though.

I don't think it's a matter of the Xbox being dropped, but M$ would have to go out of
business. Most of the good stuff from Atari didn't surface until after it was sold out
to JTS. The same would apply for Nintendo, Sony, or Sega. Is dumpster-diving legal
in Japan? ;-)

My understanding is that although Microsoft is healty, the Xbox is losing Money.... Microsoft share holders probably won't tolerate that forever.

Nintendo is still profitable however.... why would they leave?

the XBOX is Gates' little toy, he wants that machine out there, if it makes money good, if it dosent, he'll cover it. if microsoft dosent want the XBOX around, Gates' 'ill buy up the rights and keep producing it. Gates loves the video gaming industry and wants to be part of it, and he will be. for a very very long time.

They've said it many times. They won't let it fail. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Nintendo on the other hand has said the day they stop making consoles is the day they shut the doors. Meaning no games for other systems like Sega. Just, gone. And that'd be a sad day.

I don't want either to go.
