Believe it or not, I've never actually cleaned a CD. Mine are all in good shape, with little light scratches, or none at all. Anyways, I found Resident Evil 2 for PS1 today, and while there really aren't any scratches (aside from little light ones that won't affect gameplay), there is some 'residue'. Nothing permanent, but how should I clean it? Will a damp paper towel work fine, or do I need some sort of kit?

Dish soap and water in the sink always worked for me. Soft cloth to dry it off ( dry from the inside out not in circles ).

Yep...I just run the tap water over them for a moment and dry center-to-edge. No kit required.

Seriously, I usually use a bit of saliva and my t-shirt. Gross, I know, but it works.

Not so good if you've just finished a peanut butter sandwich (contrary to that commercial).
