Ok guys, here we have a new discussion carried over from Jag forum... Let me know your thoughts on this subject? Here is my post:

I could pay $160 for Battlesphere and play it about about a month and get bored with it... or I could buy 3 great games like Madden 03, NHL 2K3 or World Series 2K3 and play them forever??? Much more value for my money... Plus the 3 games above are available for purchase as we speak... No waiting for a few years till you finally get your hands on a copy!

Holy_Fluck wrote:

I dont really agree, I think I'm a "true gamer" and I was entertained for more than 3 minutes. I got NHL2k3 in December and have put in hundreds of hours into that game ( i played through franchise modes and hundreds of online games) can you seriously say I can get that much time out of BS? as good as the game most likely is I cant say I can and I havent even talked about Madden or World series. You mention the other sports games and I think more time can be put in to those as well (playing season modes and playing against people) Like I said I'm a "true gamer" and enjoy and played thousands of games and own alot of systems.

Thunderbird wrote:

There lies the problem. You'd rather pay for three awful games like Madden 03, NHL 2K3 and World Series 2K3 which any true gamer wouldn't be entertained for 3 minutes playing. Especially when you can pick up a bunch of used copies of Madden 00, NHL 2K, World Series 2K, Madden 01, NHL 2K1, World Series 2K1, Madden 02, NHL 2K2 and World Series 2K2 and get the same boring games for about $10 (for all of them).

"Those games are meant for the average dunderhead beer belly bonehead. Not for true gamers".

Gunstarhero wrote:

So if you go out and buy Madden 03(yawn), NHL2K3(yawn), and World Series 2K3(yawn), your going to play these forever? I doubt it, it will end up in the resale rack at EB like every other sports game ever made. You talk about buying Battlesphere for $160 and getting bored within a month, but at the very least you could sell that Battlesphere for $160 and lose absolutely nothing. However if you buy those 3 same old, same old crummy sports games for $160, once you get bored with those, they are worth what? About $15 for all three, and thats if you sell them before next year's releases come out. Talk about a waste of money.

Your thoughts, ideas on this subject?

It's all about the quality and the pride you get when you buy Battlesphere. All the shit the programmers went threw to get this game in our hands. Ill the years(7) that it took to make this game. It's definity worth the $160
If you don't like , then don't buy it and stop crying about it.

Battlesphere is a great game playing solo, but is AWESOME when networked and playing against friends!

Buy the game, and if you don't like it, I'm 100% sure that if you sell it here on AA or E-bay, you will recoup the money you spent and then you can go buy all the sports games you want. Yep, it's that simple! :)

That is very true... Anytime u can get your investment back, great! U drive a car off the lot and lose a few $1000 right there. But, how many gamers are ever gonna get the chance to play or own Battlesphere? How many years do u have to sit on a waiting list? Is this done purposely by the company who develops the game to increase it's value? Who knows... It doesn't help the consumer any... You produce a product you should then be able to make enough copies to supply the consumer with... The customer is always first! Every year I can go to the store and find a new version of any sports title I like... Madden 2004 will be ready in September. I can readily go and purchase it for let's say $40... Play full seasons many times and also play online, which is really cool! Would I get bored with it? Probably, but I can play full seasons and also take on my buddies online... It is anything but a yawn... The graphics look like an actual football game... Sports games graphic wise are the best to look at visually... Again, to each his own... Therefore, my game is of more value to me for the simple fact that I know every year I will get a new version with something new added to spice it up! I bought NFL 2K3 for $10 brand new!!! Hell, I can just let the computer play each other and watch it like a real football game... Another GREAT game is NBA Street Volume 2... Great graphics, a kickass soundtrack, and an announcer who says the funniest lines... Plus I can go back and play the old school guys like Jordan, Bird, Dr. J, Magic, Rick Barry, way to cool... I also play shooters and the arcade remakes when they come out... I love the challenge of a game like Splinter Cell... This is what value means to me... They are available to me TODAY, not 5 years from now... So, I hear all this hype about one game for the Jag... One game that I will never play... One game that was so great because it took so many years to make... One game that rejuvenated the jag... One game that only a few people will ever play... Again, a game that I can't buy has no value to me... So, as good as it may be, it's only one game... One game that only a few people will ever play...

I bought Battlesphere and WILL play it forever - or at least as long as the cart and one of my two Jags continues to work. It has infinite replayability.

I wouldn't even consider buying those three sports titles. I doubt you'd play them "forever," either. I wonder how many games you and others at first glance thought they would play "forever" and they wound up trading them in, selling them, or just tossing them in a closet when the next, latest and greatest thing came along.

I don't really understand what the dillemma is here. You're comparing apples and oranges. Sports games don't age well (certainly not as well as Battlesphere), so considering you keep saying the word "investment", I can't imagine a heap of sports games being better in the long run.

Gary, why don't you give it a rest. Nobody is listening in the Jaguar forum, so you bring it here. You're not willing to listen to anyone else. Just don't buy the freaking game. You must have alot of free time on your hands to be so worried about this Battlesphere game.

Battlesphere is a totally different type of game than a sports game, as someone said earlier, you can't compare them. If you're too cheap to shell out the $$ for Battlesphere, then stop complaining about it and buy all the damn sports games you can find. Obviously the game is worth the $$ and the wait if it's in such high demand. You can't judge a game without playing it.

You also can't expect a game to be in abundant supplies when it's for a defunct system. Maybe they made it in short supplies so it would be a special edition type of game, there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, when every view is one-sided, do I have to be the bad guy all the time... I won't buy it because of the price and the limited run... Send me your copy? I know, will never happen... So, I will never play this GREAT game? Would love to try it and see what it's like... Again, your comments are one-sided... meaning I must continue to repeat myself to get a point across which will never happen... If ya don't like this post... DON"T RESPOND! Simple as that... What you are doing is trolling with your one-sided views... Let someone else respond who may have a different view... Simple as that...

Gary, if everyone else is one sided and wrong, then maybe you should take a step back and look at yourself. Is it really possible for everyone else to be wrong?

And I don't have Battlesphere either. I don't want to spend that much money on a game, which is why I not only don't have that one, but I don't have any rare games. I'd rather use that money for more important things than games. Some people don't feel that way, more power to them. But I can't condemn Battlesphere or T-Bird because I'm to cheap to buy it and see how great it supposedly is.

And just so that you know for future reference, continually starting topics that get locked and that cause controversy, is trolling.

That was sort of my point... sports games are all but guaranteed to be worthless after a year or so, since the new version is out. If you buy three sports games now for $50 each, they'll be worth about $20 collectively a year from now. You'll have some fun with them, but a year from now, that copy of Battlesphere will be worth an awful lot more. I'm not a big sports fan, but it's worth pointing out that last years sports games are dirt cheap. I think I paid $5 for NFL 2K1 for my Dreamcast, and I doubt NFL 2K2 would really give me any more satisfaction than that. Granted, I'm not a football fan, so I really don't notice any trades or updates (Most games let you change that stuff anyways).

But if you still think we're all wrong, then what do you care? Go out and buy the sports games and have fun. That's the point of video games. You don't need our validation or anything.

PS - No, I don't have Battlesphere yet. I really would love to get it, but I simply don't have the money to spend on it.

So whats your solution Gary? You keep crying about the low price of $160 for a high quality game. Your acting like someone is forcing you to spend this money or something. Is someone holding a knife to your throat forcing you to buy Battlesphere? I don't get it. Your trying to play the victim, but of what? What are you a victim of? A victim of NOT having Battlesphere? You wanna see expensive, why dont' you try and collect for the NEO GEO, then come back and apologize for acting like a baby over a measly $160.

Battlesphere obviously sucks for some many reasons I couldn't possibly list them all here... and all other sports games rule....

Happy now?

i think Seaquest is better than all the madden football games out there - but both are different styles and totally different leagues- i dont like the football games and would rather play Seaquest over it -

Which brings up an interesting point..

Why in the hell is Seaquest only a couple of bucks and Madden "Ad Nauseum" is $50? Don't even bother responding because you will be wrong!

I can buy 25 copies of Seaquest for the price of Madden "2KR02K"... so there! That is my point!

What is so hard to understand?

And don't even bother trying that one-sided "people have different tastes and opinions" crap on me as well. This is a fact. I am right. This is final. You can't win. It is over and I won. Me.
