I've been messing with N64's (not mine, though :D, I'm too cautious to mess with my own system yet ), I can't get the freakin' Expansion/Jumper Packs out. I plan on buying an Expansion Pack for my system, but not until I'm sure how get it in there. Do I just pry these things out with a screwdriver, or open the entire system up? I swear, I nearly broke my finger trying to get one out (this was over my cousin's, where he had two, his own system, and a friend's).

pry it out -- it's in there tight, but it does come out. Luckily, you only have to do this once :)

If you buy a new expansion pak, it will come with a little plastic tool to take the old one out.

Use a butterknife. There's a slot in the front edge of the terminator pack.

Here is a link to the scan of the instructons that came with the expansion pak.

Same thing a butterknife does. No used ram packs come with that widget. Leave the cover off after you install it. N64s routinely have overheating problems with that part installed.

Excellent, I'll be sure to buy a new one, then. Thanks for the info, guys!

mysel I just pry the edge up using the plastic that covers the pack. It'll work fine.

Never had any problems with mine despite many hours of Donkey Kong 64. I have one of the actual Nintendo ones though, perhaps the knock-offs are less reliable (Some of them are actually so big that you can't put the cover back on while it's it).

I was going to buy a Nintendo brand one, even if it's used (and use the butterknife to get the jumper out), just in case reliability is an issue.
