I just bought a GP32, solely for the 2600 emulation. I am so excited, I can't wait for it to get here :) I'll let everyone know what I think of It soon :)

Please do, as I'm seriously considering picking one up myself and I'd love to hear your experience with it. There are lots of great emulators already, and being able to use a flash card to load up emulators and games is very appealing. :) Did you get the normal version of the one with the backlight (well, front light)?

Yeah, let us know what you think of it. I have been meaning to buy one myself for quite a while now.

I have just received one a few weeks ago - I am very happy with it, although I am waiting for a faster Atari 2600 emulator - neither one (GP2600 or VCS32) runs at full speed, and has issues when using frameskipping... (Mostly collision problems, and some graphical issues) :(
I would love to see a 7800 emulator for this :-D

I have to say, the a800 emulator for it is Awesome! It is so close to full speed it is barely noticable! I actually use it to play the 5200 ports

I also have NesterGP which is also great...

I'm waiting for a MAME port (which I hear should be soon), and hopefully the Atari 2600 emulators will be updated and optimized...

Al: If anyone has specific questions about this excellent little portable gaming unit (or anything I should try) let me know! and Yes, I picked up the one with the FLU (Front Light Unit). I highly suggest getting one!

I doubt you'll receive anything from him.

I've had my GP32 for almost 2 months now and I'm extremely happy with it. It's a bit tricky to set up, but if you're patient things should go smoothly. www.gp32emu.com has some great FAQ's, I'd go there right away after your GP32 arrives.

I sure hope you got the front light version, which I highly recommend to anyone considering buying a GP32. Without the light, it's still more visible than GBA, but not by much.

As for emulators, it depends on what you're into but GPEngine, NesterGP, and Frodo are keeping me happy while I await a better 2600 emulator and Mame. Some of the free games are great too. If you like Tetris, be sure to check out Ah! My Goddess. It's well worth the 30Meg it will take up on your Smartmedia card!

gbax.com is THE place to order one from. I got my GP32 (frontlit) in 24 hours from them, I'm in the US, they are in the UK. I got a SmartMedia Card on eBay (128 meg) so I just have to wait for that. This thing looks incredible so far. I am very excited.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Castaway/GP which is an excellent Atari ST emulator and runs close to full speed on many games.

This is one incredible machine!!! I've tried both 2600 emus, and using Pitfall as the basis of my judgement, VCS32 is indeed the best 2600 emu for GP32, I am so happy with it. The GP32 is money well spent. Buy one.
