I keep hearing about how the 32X can permanently wreck 32X and Genesis games. Is this true? I don't really think that's possible...

Sometimes the 32X will explode and take out your cat.

Unless the 32X has a bug that can burn out the circuits, it's impossible seeing as the game is hard-coded into the chips. It's not like it's a floppy disk.

I have never heard of anything like this either. If it were actually possible and there were confirmed reports of it. Why is there nothing on the web concrete with details? More importantly, I have had my 32x hooked up 24/7 to my Genesis for about 2 years now and never had any issues. As long as you have the collar so that it sits well on the genesis deck and you have the RF Shield clips, I don't see where there would ever be a problem. I have heard of people shocking themselves when installing the clips because they shorted something on the genesis main board when installing them. But I myself have never had this happen...and I can tell you that I have removed and put those clips on way too many times to count.

I like my 32x...I like my Genesis 1...and I think they look great together!

I think the problem is that people were putting in those metal shielding plates wrong and shorting out the system (you're basically sticking metal pieces into the cartridge slot). I've never had any trouble with my 32X, but since I switched to a laseractive I haven't used mine.

Where's that 32X laseractive hardware hack huh? Come on, at least 2 people out there want to do this (right?).

Ugh! I hate those shields! I don't use them because when I was putting them in once, one of the shields fell in the cart slot, and I had to open up the Genny to take it out. That, and the shields are very hard to put in.

They're really not necessary... the system works perfectly fine without them (Much like the rest of the weird pieces that the 32X comes with). Although they're a little tricky to get in and out, I've never had any major trouble with them.

Legally speaking, the RF sheild clips ARE required.
They're there to keep the Sega Frankenstein in compliance with FCC regulations.

Didn't you see what I said after that? I said I don't use them because one of them fell inside my Genny once.
