I recently purchased a used N-64 from GameStop and not being a Nintendo fan for all these years, I had no idea what were some good games for this system.
Of course you peeps on this board have not steered me wrong. I purchased some of the must-have games off of Ebay and I am really enjoying this system.

There are some quality games and are all very addictive!!!

Paper Mario: what a great game!! I couldn't stop playing it until I beat it!! Love all the little side quests!! Very high quality game!!..........Just bought Super Mario RPG from ebay to play on my new SNES I got at a thrift!!

Perfect Dark/Golden Eye: two of the best FPS i have ever played. great graphics, no pixels!! wow, im impressed. i have yet to beat the one player game!

Mario Kart: what a fun game, easy to pick up, yet hard to master. very kool!!

Beetle Adventure racing: this is a great driving game, from the folks over at EA nonetheless!! What great tracks, so many hidden areas , very unique tracks!!

WaveRace: Yes i've heard how great this cart was, although i've never played it until now. Yes it is as great as its hyped up to be!! One complaint, too bad it does not use the rumble pack, would be cool to feel the waves splashing.

Banjo_koozie: just getting into this one, it seems great so far....looks like its going to be a long game! nice graphics

Top Gear rally 2: Nice rally racing game....love the fact that your takes damage!! Gotta love that.!!!

Rush 2 USA: Very cool arcade racer....nice graphics

Doom 64: Very good version of doom.....Graphics are clean and sharp....no pixelization up close at all.....i really like this version.

Mario Tennis: My favorite game so far!!! God i love this game.....i cannot stop playing this one.....again, easy to pick up, yet hard to master!!!

Seems like Nintendo games are quality over quanity.
Yes, i know there are some crappy games for the n-64.

I can't wait for Super Mario 64, DK 64, 1080 snowboarding, and diddy kong racing!!!! Which are all in the mail!!!

I am really enjoying my Nintendo 64 experience!!
I've been stuck on CD based systems for some time, nice to just plug a cart in and bam! no loading times!!!

Anyone else like to share their n-64 gaming experiences??

The Zelda titles for N64 are possibly THE greatest games ever made - for any system. Do not miss them!

And I don't think I'll ever get enough of Rogue Squandron and Mischeif Makers..

Yes, I forgot those!!

I did purchase both Zelda games, however have not really played them.

I need to find the manuals for them.

Does anyone have any scans of the instruction manuals for the Zelda games?
Is there somewhere on the web where I can find them?

Thanks

the two main reason why I kept my N64 were Blitz (any year) and Guantlet Legends. Good party games 8)

I'll always recommend these 3 classics:

Super Mario 64- Simply the best 3-D platformer.

Duke Nukem Zero Hour- Who says the N64 is a kiddie only system? This game is plenty adult, and shows off the power of the system well. Very butt kicking and funny, the opening movie is hilarious!

Resident Evil 2- An almost perfect port of the PSX classic, though more convenient in that it has the two games in one cart. Not only that, but there's a battery in it for instant saves, and get this, excellent (though slighty blurry) FMV. Easily the most engrossing N64 game I've ever played.

And of course, get an Epansion Pack if you don't already have one, Duke Nukem Zero Hour and Resident Evil 2 take advantage of it. As for Super Mario 64, it doesn't look like it needs it to me, there's almost if not no blockiness, not too shabby for the first 3-D platformer released in 1996.

Oh, and get Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire.

The second Zelda sucks. Not worth it.

Also, once you get through Banjo-Kazooie, don't you dare miss Banjo-Tooie. Sweet sequel. It's a little different, but has a lot of extra stuff worth it.

Star Fox 64 is pretty good. I love the level where you need to chase the train. If you get the right end to the level you get to watch it crash into the station and explode. Very cool. And the level where you need to fight the alien ships and destroy the mothership ID4 style is very cool. But the ending leave more to be desired. Other than that, good game. The first Rumble game.

Doom is good too. Glad you got it. It's unique and has some cool new features, yet keeps that original DOOM level feel. One level has these hammer like things that you activate and they pound the ground a few times to reveal a new pathway. That's an awesome part.

GoldenEye and Perfect Dark are two of the best FPS ever created. Goldeneye was one of my favorites until I played Perfect Dark with the totally realistic enemy AI. Glad you got them too. Can't believe I lost my GoldenEye. I really wanna play it now. 007 games after that one don't even measure up at all.

Some of the Mario Party games are good. We have the first, and have played some others. They were fun for a while. Especially with each board being totally different.

Ive got a thing for the 1st person shooters on the n64, I really like the controller for these games. Its a great system to own second hand as the games where too expensive when the machine was new. I had some dodgy vcd player attatched to my original system so you could play the roms off a cd. I dont recomend this as its an excellent system, and as i said cheap

I'd go to www.gamefaqs.com for the manuals (actually the walkthroughs, which often explain some of the controls, etc.).

I LOVED the first N64 Zelda (Ocarina of Time). The second N64 Zelda (Mask of Majora) frustrated the hell out of me with the damn clock. I got the hang of slowing down time and going back in time and all, but it just got to be a chore for me. I put it down finally, and have yet to pick it back up.

Pick up Conker's Bad Fur Day, if you haven't already. It's a HOOT!

Damn! Forgot about that! I still have not gotten that one! I keep passing it over every time I get a chance! I really gotta get that one.

And you're in luck - since BFD came out pretty late for N64 it's actually not that hard to find complete in box and shrinkwrapped at a decent price (got mine for $15).

My store had a ton of them in our last days when the prices were reaching 80% off. I KICK MYSELF for passing that up. And it wa 80% off the lowered leftover price, not the original.

Bigger bummer is that Nintendo DID release a Rumble Pak-useable version of Wave Race, BUT it's ONLY for the Japanese systems! I also liked the game myself even for the brief time I owned it, which was part of what made me look for something similar on the PS2 when I upgraded to that system, and found Eidos' Wave Rally to be a competent if NOT extensive counterpart to Wave Race.

It's got a good sense of humor, too!

I liked Doom 64 also, graphically even more so than any other version, but I hate that it does NOT have a multiplayer option.

Glad to hear that, though my Nintendo 64 playing days have just about ended. Right now my system's just waiting to be sold off to somebody.

The N64 has only a handful of good titles but the Zelda64 series alone are enough reason to pick up this console (if any of you reading this don't own a N64 yet take your time, it's not like it's worth it to pay top buck for this "classic" piece of hardware, but if you can find one cheap go for it to try the Zelda series)

I liked Majora's mask! I found it more challenging than OoT, of course at first it can be confusing geting the hang of the 3day loop but after a while it becomes second nature mastering time hehe. The song of Soaring is very powerful with practice.

In my book Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game of all (I know some will say that Link to the Past owns it but it's pseudotopview-2d graphs aged badly) but Majora's Mask is worth playing anyday too. Far more challenging.

The titles I enjoy most are:
Zelda OoT
Zelda MM
Mario64
Wave Race
SW Rogue Squad
SW Racer
Banjo Kazooie
Mario Kart

The rest just keep gathering dust, um, among others worth mentioning are:
Perfect Dark
007
Doom
Hexxen
Quake

The last 3 are easy on the eyes compared to their PC counterparts.

Hexen was a great game on the PC. But only when cheating. It's really hard, but it was awesomly unique. Unlike anything done with the DOOM engine before then. I forgot about the N64 clone. Was it any good? I like the PC version because I could enter the cheat codes. I bet the N64 version was cut up like all the other ports.

I rarely played the PC version, which I bought after playing the N64 version. I say it comes out pretty even, though the anti-aliasing makes the enemies look pretty blurry. Overall, however, it's a much dreary game to play through than Doom in any of its versions.

Hexxen sucked so much it hurt. The visuals were soooo bad it was like playing with an elastic and some cardboard cutouts.

To hell with N64 Hexxen, but due to low demand you can often find this around sealed for like 10-15 bucks.

It's still too expensive tho

You can activate the Cheats menu in Hexen64:
Start-CUp-Cdown-CLeft-CRight

CLeft-Cright-Cdown = God Mode
CR-CUp-CDown(2) = All Weapons

There are more cheats available those come on top of my head now.

Well I picked up mine for $10 New in box about 2 years ago, and being able to play it in my 29inch TVset makes it a refreshing experience compared to my 15 inch PC monitor.

I'd like to pick it up anyway. Anyone know if they chopped out stuff? Or is it exactly the same levels? I hate when they port a game and remove good stuff. Doom for SNES included. They removed levels and made it one long game.

How much is BFD worth loose? I'm sure the GS here doesn't have a box for their used N64 games. They keep them in a drawer and put out CD cases with scanned covers on the display. You ask for the game you want.
