Anybody know anything about Target getting a version of Mario Golf: Toadstool Tournament with an exclusive course or something? I think I saw it in a Target ad, but I can't recall.

Nah. Same game. The Target version just comes with a card that says...
Hold Z and press START on the title screen.
This causes a new option to be enabled... (special competitions?), and it has a submenu that allows you to enter passwords. Enter the password CEUFPXJ1 and you can play in the Target Tournament.

So the Target Tournament exists in all versions?
Good, cause I didn't want to try to return my copy from Best Buy.
