Hi All

I got my hands on this one today, Its got some great atari/midway games on it.

I was wondering if anyone knew if this title is one of the rare psone releases that wont work on a PS2??? The graphics are all screwed on 720 & supersprint. Works fine on my original playstation.

Just asking as im hoping not to need ps2 number 3.

PS2 reliability issues, eh?
I guess I'm glad i never got one!

This game is great, though. Smash TV is one of my all-time favorites.
You may be right about compatibility with PS2. The game uses some kind of emulation, I assume? Maybe it will only cooperate with PS1 hardware.
I would not blame the PS2 just yet. If any game would be incompatible, i would guess it would be one of the arcade compilations where some tricky emulation might be used.

There are one or two arcade comps that are quirky on PS2, this has been known ever since before it came out (Sony announced that despite their best efforts, it would not be COMPLETELY 100% compatible, just 99.9%).

Yes, that's one of the very few. Click here to view the list of PlayStation games that have compatibility issues with PlayStation 2.

Not completely up to date, I believe NAMCO Museum Volume 1 and 3 and discovered to have issues.

On Arcade's Greatest Hits Atari Coll. 2, the only game of the 6 that wont work is Paperboy.

AFAIK, the ones that dont work on Party Pak are Toobin' (& those you said). Rampage was kinda "blinky" but I heard thats how it was programmed.

That sucks because I bought this game back to the store because I thought it was defective. I'm glad I never bought another copy. :)

Thanks for all your help!! I am relieved as i dont treat my ps2 with much respect. I have a ps1 but might get one of those new small versions which is probably more reliable.

Have any of you tried imbnes for the playstation? heres one emulator that works with the ps2.

@jerseydevil- yeah, I got Party Pak at a GameStop, SPECIFICALLY for Toobin. I didn't care about the other games on it. I asked the clerk 3 TIMES if it'd work on a PS2. He insisted it did. I got it home- no dice on Toobin!

I returned it to a different GameStop for credit toward Ridge Racer V.
