For Amiga emulation I use WinFellow and WinUAE, and like if a game doesnt work on WinFellow, U WinUAE or vice-versa.

As normal I always search for updates every week, because I want to get the best Emulation.

Althought I like WinFellow a bit more because its faster and more user-friendly, im just curious if the WinFellow project has stopped because I cant find WinFellow's home page and been unable to find an update for over a year now.

So question is, is Winfellow dead ?

my version is alpha v0.4.3 build 1 i believe.

No other better version avaible ? :ponder:

I wouldn't doubt it, honestly. Amiga Inc. hasn't been too forgiving with any emulators other than the one they officially endorse and license the Kickstart ROMs and OSes to, Cloanto's Amiga Forever software package, which uses UAE. Even widely used ones like Amithlon are under close legal scrutiny by Amiga Inc., who appears to be fighting copyright infringements to the best of their abilities, which actually isn't saying a whole lot. I personally haven't used Amiga Forever, but I've heard plenty of recommendations for it, so it may be worth checking out.

Winfellow is pretty much dead, it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years.
the winfellow homepage is http://fellow.sourceforge.net/
it's lack of updates has nothing to do with amiga inc, uae and fellow are both 100% legal. the only thing they are bothered about is kickstarts, workbench's and registered logo's i.e. the boing ball.

winfellow simply stopped getting updated because the guys who took it over weren't really up to the job.

amiga forever sucks, it's a waste of money.

winuae is great, and altho it is slower than winfellow, most modern pc's shouldn't have any problems with it, also theres a winuae light included now which has less features but is faster for slower pc's.

and i'd be very suprised if there is a game that doesn't work on at least 1 of the last few winuae builds as it is mega compatible, and if a game doesn't work it's probably a bad image.

Oh, well some interesting things I just now know, Sauron mentioned theres even a 3rd Amiga emulator called Amiga Forever, sucks or not, I gonna have to check this out.

And this WinUAE Light (what Belgarath says). I didnt know it existed. Ive have to check that one too.

The normal WinUAE is a bit slow for my 266mhz PC, and WinFellow runs a lot of software that WinUAE crashes or cant handle and something vice-versa.

As with WinUAE, to boot up a disk image, you have to select your best saved configuatation and then insert your disk and off it goes.
(Bit of a annoyance if you want to use this in Front-Ends.

But WinFellow, all I had to do was just insert my disk image and off it goes.

Pity about WinFellow, oh well. Love live WinFellow..

amiga forever is NOT another emulator, Sauron even said it uses UAE, and that's exactly what it is, different versions of uae, and winfellow i think with a bunch of other amiga software put together in 1 package (a lot of which you can get from aminet) the only reason i can see a person buying it is because they don't own an amiga and legally want to own a kickstart, i believe amiga's are more expensive to get in america but in the uk i could buy an amiga for less than amiga forever! (my a1200+hd+monitor cost me £10)

as for winuae not being able to handle certain software, as i also said winuae is mega compatible, if you cant get something to work on it then chances are you are either doing something wrong or your version of winuae is ages old.

i also use winuae via a frontend, make a generic config file and launch the config file and voila there is the kickstart screen then just put a adf in. or via a frontend winuae.exe -f <config>.uae have different configs for diff games, click the config and voila game is there or forget about adf's entirely, use whdload!

but i have to admit winuae on a p266 is not exactly great...but my wife's pc is faster than yours! UPGRADE MAN low spec machines (but still a damned sight higher than yours) are dirt cheap these days.

Belgarath is pretty much right, except I'd like to add that Amiga Forever is your ONLY legal solution for running an Amiga emulator w/ Kickstart ROMs + OS, if you don't already own an Amiga. Considering it comes with almost every Kickstart and OS revision ever released, I would imagine that compatibility won't be a problem.
