I've been having trouble using the Atari800MacX.1.4.0 emulator. I'm assuming it's the same on the PC so it shouldn't matter which you use. Every time I run the program, it drops right into the monitor part and I can't get it to run any programs. It was working before. Any suggestions?

I would try and erase any preferences Atari800MacX may have saved. They should be in your Home->Library->Preferences directory. I've had to nuke preferences from more than one program that started misbehaving. :)

Is this the Mac OSX version? I didn't know you guys were Mac heads!!

cool!

This does sound like a bad pref file or more likely a video driver has gone south. Does this emulator allow you to configure video and sound plug ins? I'd check myself now on emulation.net but it seems to be down at the moment.

Unfortunately I can not run any OS above 9.1 since I have a Mac 9600 with a Sonnet G3/450 and 1GB of ram.

Yes, it's the OSX version. Yup, were Mac heads. I have G4 1.25 Ghz PowerMac/tower. Yea, I had a G3/300 upgraded Motorola Starmax for years which I could only use 9.1. If you ever get an opportunity to get a newer Mac that will run OS X, get it. It's well worth it.

Well if all goes according to plan, by the time my birthday hits in late Feb 2004, I'll be the proud owner of a brand new G5.

:D

'til then I'll keep using the Dreamcast Atari 800 emu, which works nicely.

I use both PCs and Macs. I'm typing this on one of my PCs (running Windows 2000), and the box next to this is a dual G4-450 running OS X 10.2.6. I'm using that machine now to do some video editing in Final Cut Express, and iTunes is also running at the moment (iTunes is almost always running, though!) I'm hoping that at some point in the future I can afford to pick up a new G5 tower, as this machine is getting long in the tooth, especially for heavy-duty apps like video editing. When I do get a new box, I will likely make the switch to OS X full-time, and only use PCs for work-related development (when necessary) and games..
