Just when I thought I had bought my last new Dreamcast games, I found some more!

Today, picked up Wetrix and Tennis 2K2 at an FYE outside Pittsburgh for $4.99 each!

A week or two ago I had picked up Mr. Driller and Street Fighter Alpha 3 for $9.99 each at a TRU, and I thought those would be my last new DC games, as I hadn't seen any anywhere else. But I peeked in at FYE - they had a dozen or so DC games in their closeout bin, where I think I had seen 'em long ago, but at much higher prices. At $4.99 each, I couldn't resist.

They had a few other titles - Baseball, Space Channel - but Wetrix and T2K2 were the only ones I was interested in.

I loved Virtua Tennis, and heard good things about 2K2, so that was easy.

Had also heard great things about Wetrix, but it was always priced high, even when the other games came down, and I wasn't too sure what it was about, how it played or if I would like it. Took the chance for the price, and boy, was it worth it! Took a game or two (or three) to get the hang of it... but I've got the top score now, completed seven of the eight training waves and am loving it! Wetrix goes on my recommended list.

These two new buys takes my DC inventory to 37. :)

AND... almost a year after I bought it, I discovered how much fun Unreal Tournament is. When I first got it I didn't quite get the hang of it, and put it aside. Picked it back up a week or two ago and fell right into it. GREAT game!

Now I gotta do the same with Ooga Booga, Vigilante 8, Resident Evil Code Veronica and Starlancer.

Did that Fye carry Dreamcast games when the DC was still in production? Just wondering if I should visit the local Fye even though I don't think they ever carried DC games.

Fye is too expensive anyway, I rarely ever go in.

Yes, I believe they did. But I didn't buy any DC games there until they knocked their prices down to the $10-$15 range. I picked up quite a few there at $9.99, including Shenmue, and Seaman complete with the microphone.

I had never heard of FYE until I saw this one at this new mall (Robinson). The DC games are all I've ever bought in there.

When I saw that $4.99 price, I knew I'd be walking out with something.

I'm going out to Weirton in a little bit to replace a UPS unit. I'll have to stop at Robinson Mall on the way back.

Hey, let us know if you pick anything up. There were a few other copies of Tennis 2K2 there, but the Wetrix I bought was the only one there.

There was very little there. I picked up a copy of Tennis and the ESPN Track and Field just because I didn't have them.

Yeah, there wasn't much. But at that price, you can expect 'em to go, which is exactly what the store wants.

I still feel like I got the best prize with Wetrix. That game is incredibly addictive. I just played it for more than an hour. The music, the colors, the water effects, the style of it - all that just makes me want to keep playing, even though really there isn't much to the game - build walls, collect water. But it is so much fun!

P.S. Did you check out the nearby TRU? They had a good number of games last I saw, many down to $9.99, some at $14.99. I wonder if they'll lower any of the $14.99 to $9.99 at some point.

Man! Not interested in Space Channel? Man, I wish I had gotten that one when I could have. That and Virtua Tennis. I passed up some really good stuff so far.

Actually, I did go back and grab Space Channel 5. It's a neat looking game, and after a few tries I managed to successfully finish the first round - got to the end of it before, but kept getting "cancelled."

The very first part of the second round was too much for me. It might be a game I'll play from time to time, but I wouldn't count it among my favs.

Think they have any more Wetrix? I'd happily pay you back. Local game store wants $20 for it used.

Nope, no more Wetrix. I snagged the last one. I called another FYE in the area to see if they had any other titles, and they didn't have any DC games.

And I think over the past two weeks I've told myself, "Well, I just bought my last new DC game" about five times. Today I picked up World Series Baseball 2K2 AND Alien Front Online. Now I'm at an even 40 titles. I think I can stop there. :)

My recent acquisitions: (UPDATED with prices)

Mr. Driller - $9.99
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - $9.99
Wetrix - $4.99
Tennis 2K2 - $4.99
Space Channel 5 - $4.99
Baseball 2K2 - $4.99
Alien Front Online - $9.99

About $50 total... for seven games. That's about $7 per game! :)

... and so I've bought my last new DC game. I think...

I got Driller for 10 bucks at the gibralter trade center

One of the absolute best puzzle games I've played, and one of my favorites period. Fun fact-they have the machine in ann arbor's arcade...my friend who goes to school there has been known to put 15 bucks into the machine in one sitting, because he loves the game so much. And I don't see why not-it's fantastic.

I found Mr. Driller for $9.99 at Media Play around a year ago, that is a great game! I'd like to try the GC version that came out recently. Anyone have that?

I had a chance to get Alienfront Online several times. In fact I may still be able to get a new copy for $9.99 it's either that or Seamen. I remember it's a microphone game, just don't recall which one.

What's a good price MMF?

If it is AFO, and you'd like me to pick up for you let me know.

I'm going shoping tomorrow. :D

In Seaman, the microphone is a must. In Alien Front, I think you only need that if you're playing online, which I guess you probably can't do anymore anyway.

I already had Seaman, and the mic that came with Alien Front was the same thing. Although, I remember seeing Seaman being sold CD only, not in a box, without a mic, which I don't understand, since you need the mic to communicate. Strange.

I just got Alien Front and have played it a little. It's a nice game to sit down with for a while to blow sh!t up, but Seaman has the depth and is very unique. I'd say Seaman is a must for any Dreamcast owner, it's just so different.

I'd say get both. Easy to justify when you think what they sold for originally. Might as well get 'em while you can.

Anything under $10 is reasonable. The more under, the more reasonable. :D I think the only two games I paid more than $10 for out of all 50 are Soul Calibur and Bangai-O.

Yay!

I just found Looney Toons Space Race for $9.99! Someone finally traded it in!

Still no Space Channel 5 or anything. But they do have some game called "EGG" for I think $1.49. Is this worth it? What is it?

I also picked up the copy of NFL 2K2 to finish my DC Sega NFL 2K trilogy. I have all three now.

I was at a TRU tonight and they had a ton of DC games. Lots in the aisle, even more tossed in a bin.

The problem is why they have so many. Their prices.

Many games are still priced at $15, $20, $30 and even $50! Yes, $50 - that would be NHL2K2, a game I wouldn't mind picking up as I don't have any hockey video games, but absolutely NOT for full price.

Cheapest I could find was a game like Chu Chu Rocket. Don't know if it's worth even $9.99 when I'd mainly play it single player. Seems more like a multiplayer game.

And on Looney Tunes... I bought that game myself a long time ago. I saw it on the demo machine I think at a TRU and with one look I fell in love. The graphics in that game are incredible. It's really like playing a cartoon. And the racing is good, and the Acme gags are great and really liven it up. Can't recall what I paid for it, but whatever it was, definitely worth it.

Some things I saw as I made rounds at TRU, EB and Gamestop that I didn't buy - I've spent enough lately -

= Controller extension cable, $5. Got one now, couldn't play without it, wondering if there's any point to get another 'just in case'.

= New DC controller, again 'just in case,' either $9.99 or $14.99. Got two now, a regualr and a red, and they're both fine. I only keep one out.

= The PC keyboard to Dreamcast adaptor, $3. Would only need if I were to ever get my hands on Typing of the Dead - and I'd only get it new, not used ($15 at TRU). While I can type very fast, I don't know how good I could type for the game sitting in my recliner with a keyboard on my lap.
