I would rather use a retrofitted squirrel carcass than the 7800 controller.

(Especially if the carcass belonged to the phantom white squirrel!)

Vote SNES.

Hmm, let me think...
a comfortable, evolutionary yet elegant controller that innovated use of buttons as a possible secondary crosspad, as well as shoulder buttons

OR

an ungodly uncomfortable unresponsive piece of crap that's the colecovision controller minus the numberpad...only the floppy fish 5200 is worse in atari's stable.

I guess I'll stick with the SNES.

(PS is the schedule one of these votes a day? that would make the most sense)

Well, let me think. I must ponder and weigh each controllers' merits and defects in order to-

FUCKING DUH. SNES.

Well, I'm trying to promote the SNES for future rounds... Nintendo's had a lot of controller innovation and deserve to place well.

Eh, I would guess that one a day might work better. I don't want to wait a month to find the winner! And I think most of the people who have participated so far check this board every day...

I liked the Atari 7800 controllers. They were pretty good for their time.

I'd take the SNES controller over it, though. So yeah, that's what I'm choosing.

I've only got the euro Atari 7800 pad which is supposed to be much better than the stick you guys get, but it's still crap compared to the SNES controller.

I say SNES

Although it pains me to do so, I vote for the SNES.

While I've neve owned a SNES, or any Nintendo system, I have of course used this controller. I've got the 7800 stick controllers now - 2 of 'em - and I don't use them. It was nice Atari realized they blew it with the 5200 controller, but how they were able to bungle a simple joystick for the 7800, I just don't know. The original 2600 controllers were simple, elegant, and functional. All they had to do was fit in a second fire button. How they managed to screw up the 7800 stick????

the 7800 was good when you were a kid with small hands but the bigger the hand gets the harder it is to use.. still, i disliked nintendos idea of shoulder buttons, made fighting games too damn hard to control. Ill go out on a limb and say

7800

I wasn't mocking your post. I don't read other people's replies in opinion threads before I post my own, to keep myself from being swayed. We're just on the same page.

That, and I couldn't think of a moderately humorous image to put together for this matchup.

Yeah, and I'd put in another vote for moving it to a daily schedule. I mean, 13 votes is as many as you've ever gotten for any of the other rounds, why wait another day?

Vote SNES.

I'd rather use a frog with SARS than use the 5200 controller. Worst controller design ever.

SNES
