This question is spread out amongst ALL games bearing Mega Man's name. Legends, X, battle Network, and of course, the original series.

My pick? Bubble Man. Mega Man 2. Close runners up would be Dr. Wily stage 1 in Mega Man 2, and Zero's theme in the opening stage of X3.

Huh, I used to think "Air Man" in MM2, but now it doesn't seem as great. I remember it being more jazzy, with a solo instrument in front.

The title theme is really good, though the long intro to it kinda sucks.

Favorite MM song? Wow, so many choices.. but I'd have to say:

Cutman Sonata, by McVaffe (Mega Man 1)
Crash the 70's Man, by Daknit (Mega Man 2)
X Intro, by Project X (Mega Man 3)
Cossack's Hot Steppin', by Matt Pollard (Mega Man 4)
Good Night Lil Man, by Texx Sound (Mega Man 5)
Master of Flame, by Evil Horde (Mega Man 6)
Frosty Delight, by DJ Chako (Mega Man VIII)
Airbased, by Chikusho Sound Team (Mega Man X)
House Hornet, by Beatdrop and Matt Pollard (Mega Man X3)
Stage Select, by DJ MetaZero (Mega Man X4)

And last but not least..
Break the Beat in Half, Dr. Wily, by Shael Riley (Mega Man: The Wily Wars)

I think Bubble Man's from MM2 is my favorite as well. Also, I liked Magnet Man's from MM3.

Flash Man and Metal Man in MM2 are by far my faves, some good ones are also in Mega Man X. I think some of the best music has to be in Super Turrican though, those are some sweet tunes in that game

Shadow Man's stage from MM3. Other personal favorites are the X4 stage select, MM3 stage select, and both Wily stage tracks from MM2.

The music in 4, 5, and 6 was *really* lacking. Although the intro to 6 wasn't bad.

I enjoy the overclocked remixes as well, but I don't have any of the titles memorized. :dunce:

Yes, but compared to the original songs, how many remixes are truly better? ;p

I have several I like, but lets face it, alot of mega man remixes blow.

one of the highlights of MM games is the music, so this question is extremely hard for me to answer... I always liked the Zero theme music from X, and the remix from MM Zero. And Zero's theme from MMX3. I also liked Bass' theme from MM7. Storm Eagle's was awesome too, so was Toxic Seahorse. There are just too many

Yeah I just got through listening to a couple of those tunes.. but they seem like more novelty than anything. I mean they're interesting and I DO like the remixes, but to me the cool thing about the videogame music is the timbre and overall sound of the song as played through the actual videogame hardware (yes.. cheesy synth sounds and all) so that's the way I prefer to hear them.. in their original form, as the videogame music that played in the background of the actual game itself :)

Still though, the remixes are interesting to hear :)

You'll note I had the same link to Crash the 70's Man in my original post. ;)

To clear up any confusion, let me just say that without the music being in the games to begin with, there wouldn't be any music to remix at ALL. So in that sense, I'm always going to be partial to the originals. Still, what I love about these remixers is how they "interpret" the songs for lack of a better word. How they can invoke the spirit, sound, and feeling of it in a modified, re-worked, and/or imitative fashion. Unfortunately the best examples of that aren't online right now - Project X2's "Final Battle" from Mega Man 2 and Disco Dan's "Impendium" from Mega Man 3 (Wily Stage 3). Both perfectly capture the creepy evil of the stage music and yet give it an orchestration that only serves to heighten the tension.
