Just picked this game up last night and I LOVE it! 100% better than Sega Rally 2 in my opinion, I REALLY love the realtime damage and the cars actually getting dirty etc. Plus 26 cars, 80+ tracks and a track editor/generator, is totally awsome! The game handles well and is fun as hell! the multiplayer looks good too. No slowdown in frame rate either like Sega Rally 2 in single or two player (haven't had a chance for 3/4 player yet).

I wouldn't mind giving that game a try if I ever got the chance. I've got Sega Rally 2, and what I don't like about that game is the control - I find it so hard to control the cars. I guess you're supposed to slide, coast and drift, but I just don't like it.
Give me precise control at insane speeds without having to use the brakes! If I want reality, I'll go drive my real car.
Of my DC racing games...
Tokyo Xtreme 2 - Loved this game, used to play it a lot, but not as much recently. Love the look of the cars.
Rush 2049 - Great looking game, can be fun... but... damn, it's so hard to actually be able to pass the computer controlled opponents. Seems the only way to advance is to really cut your corners tight. Otherwise there's just no way to gain ground.
Daytona USA - Good game. But I found some of the tracks too difficult.
IMO, best racing game I got is Looney Tunes Space Race. Got the graphics, gameplay and I love using all the Acme tricks.
Give me precise control at insane speeds without having to use the brakes! If I want reality, I'll go drive my real car.

Sega Rally 2 is my personal favorite DC racer but Test Drive: V Rally is a cool game too. Lots of tracks, smooth frame rate, great challenging bumpy tracks. You can flip your car (easily in some tracks, unfortunately ) in V-Rally, but not in SR2. Did you ever mess around with the track editor? I think you can only save one track (per VMU I suppose) but it is so cool to make a course, loop it (a function which connects the ends automatically), then fool with the elevation and which country the track exists in (basically changes the bg gfx). I've made some wicked hills and drops!

The control on V-rally is much, much better than Sega Rally and there are a lot more modes of play, from Arcade to total realism.
You should try Speed Devils if you want a game like Rush 2049 but not as difficult (to start with) you can choose the difficulty level and the game is the same type as Rush.
Also you must get Vanishing Point, this game just rocks and the control and graphics are spot-on.
I have the original Toyko Xtreme and like it, I wanted 2, but the first is all I could find.
I think you would really like 4 wheel thunder too, it's arcade off-road racing at it's best.
Test Drive 6 is also a lot like SpeedDevils/Rush too, have you tried it?
The DC just has tons of cool racers, both arcade and realistic. IMHO it's the best system EVER for racing games, none other compares.

I've made some wicked hills and drops!I was going to wait until I had completed the game to get into the editor, but I did browse it and it looks cool! I like the fact that you can flip the car and have real damage in V-rally, also the fact that you can choose a game mode where the damage is only superficial or one where it actually effects your car! Good stuff! I just didn't care for SR2 because of it's lack of game modes; I always hated Sega racers because you have to play with the damn clock and make it to the next checkpoint in time or you loose, and also because they NEVER give you enough tracks, 3 or 4 is just lame! V-rally has over 80!!! But one can do worse than Sega Rally, it's all right.

I bought my DC long after launch, and when I did Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 was out and just about everywhere. It came highly recommended. I was looking for a different kind of racing game. It qualified. I liked the idea of racing on streets rather than a track.
I had seen Speed Devils in the stores, probably when I was hunting the $9.99s at Circuit City, when they still had DC games. It just never caught my eye. Too bad. My loss. Probably won't find it now. But that's OK - I've got plenty to keep me occupied!

I very much enjoyed Speed Devils back in the day, but I no longer own it. After a while the frame rate , which is sub-30 I'm pretty sure, started to bother me. But the game was quite a lot of fun, a nice sleeper hit. Wonder why they never made an upgrade for the more powerful systems?
What is nice about Speed Devils is you earn cash based on races, plus you can challenge people for pink slips and there is a damage factor. Smash your front-end and your lights go out, even on night stages! There are short cuts to learn and the courses are peppered with arcade-style game set pieces, like UFO's that pick up cars and a T-Rex in the middle of the Hollywood track, or (my fave) the Mexican flying beast in the Mexico stage.

In my travels today, I didn't see Speed Devils, but I did see a copy of Speed Devils Online.
I didn't get it. Read the reviews at IGN and according to them, the online version is actually not as good as the original. Weird, huh?
Got Alien Front Online instead. Good game, good graphics, easy to play. Just wish I didn't get blown up so often!

Alien front is pretty cool. Your right about Speed Devils online, I have a demo of that and I thought it really sucked. So I never bothered with the original either for a long time, but then I saw it for $2 so I picked it up anyway and am VERY glad I did, it is much better than the online version.

I payed $10 for my copy and it is definately worth that! knowing how good it is now, I would have payed as much as $25 for it had I been able to try it before I bought it, maybe even more. lemans is killer too though, i can't believe you didn't already have that one with as many game as you have for the DC! But at least you have it now. If you don't have F355 ferrari yet, that's another must have for realistic racing sims, I didn't mention those to Brian because he said he liked Arcade style racers, not sims. Now if I could just get my hands on Half-life... Having fun yet with your 3DO yet Clint? not that you have time with your 150+ DC games and the Jag...
