They are flimsy, I will also say too toy like, I will also agree looks before function, and the absolute worst button layout ever, and in no way, shape or from did I even find it remotely comfortable. I'd find more comfort getting pulled from the back of a semi by my balls....down a dirt road....100mph.....in Alaska.
Mmmm, the delicous smell of hyperbole.

You musta got unlucky, then.

Please explain why it's the worst button layout ever. I think it's the best, for reasons other people here and myself have already gone on about.

I'm really surprised that more people don't miss the analog stick. Even the vectrex had that figured out...

Punctuate much?

Eh, typical GC hater.

I think. Maybe he was for it, I couldn't really tell.

whoah - everyone - deep breaths:) We're talking about controllers here - it doesn't matter at all.

Aaanyway...I do like the GC controller - it felt very good for Rogue Leader - I guess we all have different shaped hands:)

Almost every time someone votes against the GC you jump right in with your little comments and try to make it sound like they have some personal hatred against Nintendo.

I think everyone has seen your vote in this thread. No one gave you any shit about the way you voted or asked for clarification about your reasons.

appearance first and with no concern for function"--please back up that claim with details.
People are allowed to vote against the GC controller for the simple fact that they just generally don't care for it. How 'bout you give it a rest and let everyone else be entitled to their own opinions. It's obvious you love the GC controller but for someone who has never even used the controller that it is up against how can you be sure that people are Nintendo haters and not just voting for the better controller. I have already voted for the Jag. I have also already voted for the Snes. Am I still a Nintendo hater? Give everyone the same courtesy your given and let them have their own opinions.

I was making a small joke...in the end, I wasn't 100% positive he was anti-GC because his sentences all ran together. And then I put in a cheap shot "eh, typical" to try to be cute. I probably shoulda included a winking smiley.

Yeah, I know people aren't as concerned about this as I am, I'm making too big a deal. I still think the people who are pro-controller (either GC or Jaguar) have made better cases than the people who slam them, and more people have slammed the GC. But I think better of the Jaguar Controller than I did before this thread, the keypad may be a little goofy, but now I can see it would be great for something like Doom.

I ask these questions because I like a decent discussion, and would like to hear explanations for opinions that I don't yet share. For instance, I learned more about the Jag controller. I really want to know why some people think the button layout is the worst ever, because I'm among the several people here who thinks it has a very intellingent layout. I think it might have to doing a soso job with some traditional fighters, but I'm not sure.

I know I've been a bit of an ass and I'm sorry; but believe it or not, even though I have a strong opinion, I'd really like a decent discussion on this. That's why I'm willing to admit the GC controller faults.

I guess I may be forgetting that since we can vote on any criteria we want, other people don't share mine. I really look to functionality (in an absolute scale) and innovation. Other people judge strictly on comfort, or functionality relative to when the thing came out.

Everybody! It's just a games controller! Lets be nice to each other PLEASE! A week or two ago, I got to thinking about how I'd be if I got rid of all my consoles (bit of a money situation at the moment) and, after a bit of 'oh - but I'd miss my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that sits on the shelf and never gets played', I realized it wouldn't matter one bit. Video games are totally irrelevant - that's partly why I like them so much:)
Heck, I think the only controller I've ever been actually angry about was the Intellivisions - because it was the only thing stopping me enjoying Tron - Solar Sailer - I eventually sold the system because the controllers had rendered the thing useless. At least we don't have that with modern consoles.
The Xbox pad may be the size of a house, the GC's may be made by Fisher Price and the Dual Shock 2 may be an overcomplicated mess - but they are all, without exception, still useable and won't be the cause of you losing a game. Heck, unlike the Intellivision, you can even unplug the controllers you don't like and replace them with 3rd party ones - you younguns, you have it easy...in my day............

Well said. I've already apoligized for getting a little too into this.

I do agree, recent controllers are all pretty decent, though none are perfect.

Did any pre-NES systems besides the Atari 2600/C=64/Atari 8bit/Amiga have 3rd party controllers?

Guy is in a new town. See a sign on a barbershop
"what do you think i'll shave you for nothing and give you a drink"
Guy goes into barbershop, asks for a shave and a beer. At the end the barber asks for ten bucks. Guy points out the sign, barber says he just didn't read it right, the sign painter didn't see the point of puncuation, it should have said
"what! do you think i'll shave you for nothing and give you a drink?"

Anyway, a brick can take more punishment than a NES pad, but that doesn't mean it's a better controller. (But people are free to decide on whatever factors they want, so more power to ya.)

Definatly the GameCube controller. it fits nice and it feels high quality (Good plastics used, buttons feel nice when pushed,) The Jag IMO is the worst controller made, it feels so cheap and the d-pad sucks (good thing street fighter never came out on it) and the buttons feel like crap. I really dont know how the Jag got as many votes as it did. It could be because this is a pro atari website
