hi guys, while I was in virgina for a week, I came arcoss an arcade that had a game called 18 wheeler, has this been out for awhile or a new thing? I found it pretty awsome!! and is there and controller like the ones at the arcade(not as big tho) that I can use aka, the wheel, gear shift and such. also is this just for the newer systems ?

This game has been out in the arcades for about three years. There are home versions for the Dreamcast, GameCube, and PS2. They're all pretty good ports. For the controller, I would just shop around for a racing wheel and pedals that feel comfortable and they would recreate some of the arcade experience :)

I don't find that the home version for the DC is enjoyable - it's just not really fun to play. After playing Crazy Taxi 1 and 2 on the DC, this game felt so slow and boring to me.

I found the DC port to be ok, it's nice for a while. The only problem I have with it is that it's just to damned short, it's like only four tracks as far as I've been able to tell. This means that it takes about 1-2 hours to complete the game (not including the parking stuff).

I thought the DC port was pretty cool. There is also a game for the newer systems called Big Mutha Truckers. It got some bad reviews but I didn't think it was all that bad, pretty fun actually with some neat options like picking up different cargos and making profits.

Sega did a sequel for PS2 called... meh i forget something to do with that highway in the states that's really famous, i think route 66. Haven't read any reviews but i'd be interested to see how that worked out.

the sequel was called King of Route 66 on PS2

the arcade game was pretty cool, but the home version lacks a bit since you dont have the oversize steering wheel. but you can find it pretty cheap in most stores now, so pick it up if you liked it :)
