Man, this has got to be the wackiest NES game I've ever played.

You're a dude who goes up against a bunch of other dudes by racing boats.

It's interesting to say the most.

Kinda fun if you got some time to kill and nothing better to do.

Must be a fairly rare game too then - not one of the almost 400 I own. :(

i loved cobra triangle

it had the speed and controls of RC Pro AM, but the missions were so fun, and the game got super difficult later on. I got to the second dragon, but never could beat him :(

I’ve never been really big on the NES so I wasn’t aware of this game until you mentioned it. I just fired it up on the FCEUltra emulator, however. Cool little game; reminds me a little bit of “Off Road”. Thanks for the heads up!

I just got into collecting NES and probably wouldn't have thought to look for this if you hadn't told me to try it. So I did. And it's a gem.

As for Metal Storm, I remember an issue of Nintendo Power about that game. I had two copies. One I bought, and one that came with a subscription. But at that time I was picky about the games I got. Unfortunately, I don't think I saw that one at the GS. But I'm ALMOST sure I saw Eliminator.

$9.99 for that auction? Sheesh! Who's controlling this auction?! According to eBayer's, EVERY NES game is "RARE"! I got BOTH copies of Metroid for less than I'd get that game for. BOTH! In perfect shape! (Albeit, without boxes or manuals, but still.)

If you ever see it, get it. It's my single favorite NES game in my admittedly small collection.
Nice platform shooter by Irem(makers of R-Type and creators of Moon Patrol). Your character is a robot with a gravity control device.
Despite what it may sound like, the grav flip isn't a novelty feature. It's a smoothly integrated part of the gameplay.

That's pretty cool! I also like the parralax scrolling sub background. I remember when the SNES came out, they all raved about how "Layers would allow separately moving backgrounds to give a feeling of depth". But Metal Storm had it NOW. That's pretty cool. Hopefully, I'll stumble onto it soon.

I have 54 NES carts currently on my shelf (Not counting the ones I lost somewhere in the house. I probably have more like ~65 in that case.) and could always use more. ;)

Yah. If I recall, Ninja Gaiden 3 was the only other NES game with parallax.

You need all 5000 or whatever. Then your journey will be complete and you can build a house with your duplicates.

Hahaha! Yes. Well, I'll concentrate on the US releases first. ;)

Is there an official count somewhere? Of both Nintendo Seal and Unlicensed games?

There's only 700 NES carts that were released in the US. It's not an unattainable number, by far ;)

Sky Kid-unknown gem of a game on the NES. One of my absolute favorites from back in the day, a goony little sidescrolling shooter where, as the red baron, you blow up planes and tanks, and eventually pick up a bomb to drop on the enemy base. It's very cartoony and has all sorts of little hidden things in the levels. Tons o Fun.

Nope.
I pulled my count from GoodNES(which is over half bad dumps; how's that for irony?) and added the better part of a thousand to even out the # and accomodate unknwon titles.

The funny thing is that if I want to reach my goal of owning every game for any of my systems, I'm gonna need more room!!! I can probably fit 450 games on my shelves if I throw away all my SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Xbox, GameCube and 2600 games plus all my DVD's and all the nicknacks on the shelves.

Or just tear down half the posters I have on my walls.

I'm sure I'll survive. :D

I mean, I do have a whole basement to take over in the event of an overflow.

On a side note, my cart is misspelled.

It's spelled "Elimonator" instead of "Eliminator"

That must make it rarer.

And I got my copy at Gamestop too. It didn't cost too much either.

And of course based on the esoterically popular Namco arcade game by the same name :) There was also a SkyKid Deluxe I think too..

Man since it was so popular there are a LOT of NES games that are probably worthy of trying.. it almost blows the mind. I'll have to try out that Eliminator Boat Duel :D I used to like Cobra Triangle too.. but it got real hard. I don't think I've ever passed the Dragon either. Maybe now with savestates on an emu, I could try again though :P
