Well done, and now I've looked at the label I can see that it is a very good representation of the theme of the game. A well deserved accolade. Congrats!

Way to go Phosphor Dot Fossils!!
A well deserved win...regardless of the fact that you're in your bath robe.

Least I wasn't naked. Polite society frowns upon being fried by a damn great space fireball while unclothed. It's just not done around here. :lolblue:

Thanks for the kind words, guys. :D

I guess for the rest of us, there's always next time.

Say... what is the next game due for a label contest? ;)

It's not a game. :) :)

Hope nobody strips of my prize for revealing this, but the "space pilot cowering in the cockpit" is actually me, in my bathrobe, standing against a white wall.   :D

Posing in a bathrobe for an Atari 2600 label will make you inmortal in the obscure part of video game history! :D
Congrats!

Congrats, PDF. Very professional looking and an interesting perspective on the game.

Overall, a very nice batch of entries. Lots of variety.

Matt Reed, I really like the style of that illustration you did. It's reminiscent of the kind of art featured on some of the ol' Atari packaging, catalogs and instruction manuals. Did you use markers/colored pencils or is that painted?

Damn!

Congrats PDF.

I liked your label designs over the others.

I'm inspired to download PhotoImpact and see if I can make any label mockups.

The way the Backfire label is designed, it's sure to be a keeper!

DaveD thanks for the kind words!! I painted this with acrylics. I really like the look of the old Atari labels with hand-done/painted artwork. I'm glad you could see that was what I was going for.

IMHO these are some of the best labels yet! WTG all who submitted!
I thought there were at least TEN that shoulda won on any given day.

It must have been a very tough call to pick a winner.

If you guys like how the label preview looks, wait until you see the manual. Albert showed it to me at OKGE, and it is a beaut - well done to all involved (and I supplied some extra spacey artwork for the manual which wasn't among my label entries). Believe me, I just wanted to take that puppy home with me. :D

Backfire has been added to our store, and I've taken some pictures of the cartridge and manual:

The manual is 12, full-color pages and was put together by Dale Crum, using the artwork created by Earl. Here's the page in the store:

I will be posting the final binary soon. :)

I'm assuming that the "final binary" is the version that's available on the cart?

Looks as if I'll have to put in a new order at the AA Store soon! 8)

That extra artwork for the manual looks really cool! Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend OKGE, so I haven't seen it yet. Albert shipped me my cart yesterday, so I should have it soon. I can't wait to see it.
