I got one two months ago.

When I got it, I bought a used copy of Zelda Four Swords.

When I played it, the controls kept flaking out. So I returned the game.

Then I found one game. Tetris. The old Tetris. Played fine.

Now my brother found our copy of Donkey Kong ('94) but the controls work then don't work. Then I smash the controller and they work, then don't work.

Now, my GCN controllers have been flakey lately anyway.

Anyone think it's the controllers? Please tell me it's the controllers! They only seem to flake out on the GBP though. I can't return the Player, (Lost the receipt and threw away the packaging.) but I can easily buy new controllers.

Anyone else have problems with their Player? I bought it just for SMB3. And I think I jumped the gun. Should have waited. Stupid me. Now I'm regretting it.

Also, I have one major complaint. What the hell. Who's idea was it to not make the GBA/GBP have Super Game Boy features? I mean, I might as well use my SNES and SGB to play my older GB games if THIS is how they're gonna look. Ick! Stupidest idea ever ill-conceived if you ask me.

And my final complaint is the crappy presentation on screen. That god damn stupid "Press Z Button" notice that's always visible makes me wretch and there's no plain black background. They all have a border. Even the black one. What is their problem?

Please tell me it's the controllers and not the player. I'd love to invest in one of those special Hori controllers for this, but not if the player's a piece of crap.

I was so looking forward to the thing, but I'm having major second thoughts. I'm seriously just considering selling it on eBay and investing in a GBA SP.

as far as borders go, i just play the games in the bigger screen, its not quite full, but its close enough that you hardly see the border. The space background is the closest to plain you can get

Ive had no problems with the controls, other than the cube button layout is pretty silly

It cant hurt to buy another controller to see if it is indeed the controller. You have four ports on there, so having extra controllers when friends come over would be a good idea

the other thing you can try, is if you have a GBA or GBASP, you can buy a cube/gba link cable, and use the GBA as an actual controller. That may be your best setup for the player :)

I wish I knew where our GBA was. Probably with the 20+ games we had. In a box somewhere in the attic. Like the Ark in the end of Raiders. WHERE DID THEY PUT IT???

*sigh*

If I could find all the games and accessories we have in this house, I'd be happy.

I'd like to get a GBA SP eventually, but it's not my top priority. Guess I'll go for the controller approach. But I have a sneaking suspicion it's the player. But I hope not.

Anyone have any experiences with theirs they can share?

Probably not the report you're looking to hear, but I  my GB Player. I use it with the Hori Controller, with the Wavebird Wireless, and even with the GBA or the SP linked directly to it via cable. I have no objections to it in any form. It works with every game I put in it, and the GBA games in particular are BEAUTIFUL in big size. Crash Bandicoot's Big Adventure is a dead ringer for any of the Crash PS1 games, Donkey Kong Country is a dead ringer for the SNES version, and Metroid Prime and Pokeemon Pinball R&S are both incredibly fun to play with big size and sound. all around.

Yet any game I use in MINE doesn't play nicely.

I pray it's the controller. I'll pick up a new controller on Friday.

I have had zero problems with controllers in regards to the GB Player as well. I use regular Nintendo controllers and a Wavebird.

I would never have been able to finish Circle of the Moon with the GB player...

I guess that was a Freudian slip!

I got most of the way through the game with the GB Player, but once I knew where everything was and I was levelling up to fight Dracula the 2nd time, I found myself able to use the GBA on its own.. and I ended up beating Dracula while sitting on the john...

(Yeah, I know, too much information...) ;)

Is that what you are calling "it" now?
