And I suspect it might've become a "bulletpoint item" for new console makers to checkoff if they're designing a new controller. They don't want to risk giving their competitors something to hit them with, or for Johnny's non-gamer parents to make it a reason to buy the other guy's stuff for poor little Johnny, or something.
And even Nintendo decided to ditch it in lieu of better battery life for its wavebird...not the controller that comes bundled, but still a first party device.
I'm surprised more lightguns don't have kickback features.
Re: force feedback, I'm pretty sure the big microsoft sticks sort of depend on A. a big heavy base and B. a heavily reinforced stick. I mean you could imagine something like the dualshock making it tougher to push some ways than others, but if a game developer over did it, you're in for more broken sticks...or thumbs...
