Kevin, I like your versions and I'm very glad you did these as I never noticed that even Stan Jr.'s original version gets stuck in the pitch-black room. Yours doesn't seem to have any problems getting stuck anywhere.
I tried them out on a KrokCart and they work fine, although the colors in the first room look more green than light brown on my TV and Lara's body looks a little deformed to me when she's standing or walking, but all-around a good job.
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, and it was my pleasure working on this. The color pallet I was making my judgments by was the Stella pallet and a LCD VGA monitor. I noticed when playing on my TV using z26x, the colors don't seem as green in the 2nd floor down, but that's fine by me. The 1st floor (starting floor) look lighter brown than on my PC, but again, that's fine by me. Tomb Raider games have a good mix of light brown, dark brown, gray, and green jungle areas, so those are the colors I tried to incorporate. I'm open to suggestions for what colors you or others would like to see. I'd do some alternate versions by request.
BTW, to see the exact colors and character sprite I intended, take a look at the screenshots and level maps in my post on the first page of the thread.
As for Lara's figure, it's the best I could get it judging by a pixel-perfect VGA picture. When it's on a standard TV screen you miss the detail. For example, you can't really see her white socks. It would be nice to have a larger character sprite, (the current is 8x20), and more frames of animation, (current walking animation is 2 frames), but without a serious rewrite we're stuck with it as is. Again, I'm open to suggestions on ways to better the sprite. That's why I'm seeking feedback. I've done the best I know how according to my taste, but I know others can be more creative and do better. If you can take the 8x20 sprite and come up with a better looking Lara, by all means do so. I want to get this as good as I can before I call it "final." Again, check the screenshots in my first post and see if those look deformed to you.
