NO YOSHI FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! He's in the game. But he's not rideable. Instead he gives you 1-Up's. And talks. YOSHI DOES NOT TALK!! WTF? I WANT TO RIDE YOU!!!)

Super Mario Sunshine did allow you to eventually ride Yoshi. It was a requirement on a couple of the levels. He would eat fruit and squirt juice.

I overall liked the game, but I just couldn't complete some of the upper challenges on the some of the levels. And you pretty much have to complete every challenge to open up the final entrance to complete the game. I haven't played the game for months now, and trying to get used to the controls again to be faced with completing hard levels is pretty daunting. So it looks pretty grim that I'll complete this game.

After forcing myself to stop playing Super Mario Sunshine for fear of burning myself out on it, I'm starting to realize I think it's possibly the best 3D-accelerated game ever made. It's deep (I'm still only about 10% of the way through it even though I've seen about half of the levels), the learning curve is fairly short (not arcade short, but a lot shorter than most games with this many moves) and it's as much fun to watch as it is to play.

Yeah, the camera should automagically fix itself sometimes, but it isn't actively malicious as in some other games of the 3D platformer/adventure genre. At least the C stick is always there.

Yeah, the red coin levels are ridiculously hard and usually plunked right down between two comparatively easy levels.

Yeah, the music gets stuck in your head and is annoying.

Nonetheless, I don't think a session of SMS goes by where I don't find something that leaves me in awe of how well-put-together the game is. It's just smooth as silk and beautiful to play. The whole "water cannon" gimmick puts the lie to all those people who say it's a clone of Mario 64, which I played in emulation and was underwhelmed. I like it better than any other game featuring Mario as a character except for perhaps the original and super Gameboy versions of Donkey Kong.

I'll be first in line for Mario 128 when it appears, but in my book they have a tough act to follow.

The Fort on Dark World wasn't too hard, so long as you were able to keep from getting hit, and had your raccoon tail. Just go into the part with the conveyor belts, works your way right, and when you get to the blocks, Tail em. Bam, you've taken a nice shortcut.

I already know about the shortcuts. It is just time consuming and faster to skip past it.
