My understanding is that the 7800 already allows you to select a color for high-rez (320 mode) objects, so why generate a color through artifacting? (anyone know how high-rez works on the 7800?) You did it on the 800 because you only had 1 color for the whole screen.

Not if there's no colorburst. The TV would have no color reference information, and would treat the signal as B&W.
