Just curious.....

ME: I haven't seen anything worth buying. Not Halo. Not anything. Maybe Banjo-Kazooie 3 if it ever comes out.

There's not nearly enough games on this system that interest me. Knights of the Old Republic looks excellent, I'm dying to get ESPN Hockey and I wouldn't mind giving Jet Set Radio Future a run since I loved the Dreamcast version... but other than that, I can't think of anything I'd want for it. That's nowhere near enough to make me spend $250 (CDN) for this thing though.

Plus, I've never been the biggest fan of Microsoft...

Oh all right I'll bite... Xbox is the greatest system ever, owners of the other systems are super jealous of the vast library of games for the Xbox and the extreme funness of said games that can't be found on any other system...

No it's not....it's the worst ever because of Bill Gates. Even if there *were* good games, you only *think* that because Bill Gates is somehow brainwashing you through the screen just like he is doing with Windows!!! I'm now evil just for saying his name!
AND it's a MONOPOLY.....
BILL=EVIL BILL=EVIL BILL=EVIL

hmm, the best reason I can think of in all seriousness... It's too freaking LARGE. I'd like to play the DOA and Panzer game but I've simply got nowhere to put the damn thing. I've got 7 consoles (and all my 'classics' are boxed up in storage) "in" my coffee table now with the wires running through the walls, yeah when I renovated my basement I had video game wiring in mind.

If the Xbox was the size of a CDX (or even a PS2) I'd probably have one by now, it is just too big as it is. If it's your only console then fine, however most of us on AA sure as heck have more than one console.

Interestingly I heard that this was also a large factor in the lack of Japanese sales. It would seem Microsoft doesn't understand that the average person doesn't want a box that size in thier apartment. Heck, it just makes sense to me.

That is indeed mainly why it didn't catch on in Japan, people would understand that if they'd ever seen a Japanese apartment. ;)

Maybe they should have added legs to it so it could double as a table?? Perhaps then it would have caught on better.

I'm curious as to what the Xbox 2 will look like. Will they learn from the mistake and make it smaller? Or will they show they have no idea in their head and make it just as big. Or even BIGGER! Nah.. not BIGGER. But still big.

Alls I can say is it better be able to play my Xbox 1 games and have a File Transfer feature to get my saved games onto it and it had better use my current controllers and DVD Remote just as they are. Or else!!!!!!

I never understand why people knock the Xbox for its size. Its not that much bigger than the PS2. People always compare the games with PC games yet this thing is a lot smaller than 95% of PCs. It is bigger than the Cube and PS2 but it has a inbuilt hard drive and network card, the others don't and you need to plug those bits in if you want to go online on a pS2 which then makes it bigger and clumsier than the neat Xbox. I have no problem with it's size because it just sits in my cabinet, I don't have to carry it with me.

I've read that MS are making a smaller version for Japan to be released in near future.

I think they really should put more effort into shrinking it really.

Here's a pic of the inside:
HD and Drive: http://www.hardocp.c...es/59_1_9_l.jpg
Boards: http://www.hardocp.c...s/59_1_13_l.jpg

Now, really. Is it so hard to use smaller parts here? Especially the HD. In an age where you can get really tiny high-capacity HD's. And flatter CD/DVD drives for laptops can be used as well... though it's probably a cost factor. Smaller parts cost more. And thus drive the cost of the console up.
