has there ever been a case of somebody hoarding up on a not particulary rare game in an attempt to drive up its rarity and sell them at unbelievable prices?.......it sounds like something a james bond villian would do.

I think somebody once threatened to buy up all the CtCW on eBay and put them through a woodchipper to increase the value of his, but that would have been extremely futile since even though they've dropped in price they're still very collectable (easily worth $100) and if you spent $10,000 buying and shredding a hundred copies you'd still only increase the worth of yours by a couple bucks at most if you were lucky (in a deflationary economy I doubt it) so it would be a VERY bad return on an investment of time and effort.

I don't think you can still get $100 for a loose CtCW. $80 is about where it tops out now, I think.

Sure, I've been personally buying up all the Combat carts in existence so the price goes up to a quarter a piece :P

Pardon me. What is CtCW? I am trying to translate the acronym, but can't think of that it is.

Hell, I've got a hidden closet full of E.T. carts in my basement. Shhhhh... I'm hoping they'll be worth a dime one day.

I'm glad I didn't run over all those commons I sent to Atariage.

Seeing how common they are, they'd make great cases for homebrews.

Combat will NEVER be rare. Mark my words.

I have two of these right now and if anyone wants to pay me $90 for one shipped they would get a $100 value for $90 according to MegaManFan.

Well okay, let's just say that at one time they WERE worth $100. Actually with the discount CPUWIZ applied to mine due to label damage (he didn't know it when he sold it to me cause it was in storage) I probably got mine for about $80 too.

Well.. to drive up the price it would have to be extremely rare. You could probably start buying up all the Nintendo Championship Carts and they would increase in value... but that would be very expensive to do.

Besided, no gamer who truely loves games would ever destroy a video game... that is just wrong. Kinda like shooting Santa Claus.... you just don't do it! :x

Luckily Santa Claus' suit is bullet proof. You however will be hearing from his lawyers very soon :D
